Hello all. I am working on my wife's 06 xA trying to get some cold air. when we got the car the A/C didn't work. I hooked up the gauges and Freon was present i thought maybe a little low so I tried to add and no change it didn't seem as though the compressor was kicking on. i checked and i was getting voltage at the compressor so I thought the compressor must be bad. I ordered a new compressor and installed it. vacuumed the system down and charged it. now I can hear the motor strain as though the compressor is kicking on but there is no pressure change on the gauges and no cold air at the vents. also i cant see any Freon in the view window at the high side port. I am not sure if I haven't charged it enough to get the compressor to kick in or what is going on. like i said there is voltage at the compressor and the motor strains as though its trying to run the compressor and stops when i unplug the compressor. but no changes in the pressure and no cold air.
