Default Clutch Delay Valve

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I personally drive a 2003 BMW 3-Series, but my mom bought herself a 2007 5-speed tC. Over in the BMW world, our cars have a clutch delay valve that delays the engagement of the clutch, that was supposed to make the car easier to drive. In actuality it's just very frustrating and makes the clutch feel like an on-off switch, not a pedal, so all the manual tranny guys swap them out.

I was wondering if there is anything similar on the tC. Every time I drive it I remember why I don't like borrowing it, because the clutch doesn't feel linear, and the drive by wire throttle delay when you clutch in.

I can deal with the throttle delay because it doesn't seem like an easy fix, but maybe modding the clutch could be as easy as it is on a bimmer?

What do you think?

yeah, the clutch is fine in the tc. i find it very easy to engage from a stop.

just give it alittle gas and let the clutch out until you feel it start to engage, then give it alittle more gas and fully release the clutch.

part of the problem may be that the flywheel is very heavy at about 22 pounds, so maybe that is throwing you off.

about a month ago i drove a friends 2005 330 with a 6 speed manual and just found engaging 1st gear to be a little vague.

He probably didn't have the CDV removed, I've driven with and without and it makes all the difference. I personally have a slushbox tranmission that I wired paddleshifters to, which are cool, but I still kick myself for buying anything but a manual.

Oh okay. I was just throwing it out there, chances are if you haven't heard of it, the scion doesn't have one. It was worth a shot.

I'm not talking down or anything calm down. I was just explaining my question to help everyone understand it. I've been reading up on it and I'm going to look into some of the mods guys have done to play with the throttle response, I think I may be incorrectly blaming the clutch for the throttle problems.

Thanks, if she trusts me to mess with it, I might try to do the grounding kit DIY and see if we get a cleaner throttle response.

Theres a diy somewhere on the website where a guy put something under the throttle and it gave him better throttle response and i guess everyone said it worked
