Default Clutch Slack

I have maybe an inche of play in my clutch pedal. ie. I can pres it an inche before getting resistance and that inche appears to do little (or nothing) in terms of clutch. Also my clutch is very high.

Is there a way to remove the 'slack' and is there anything that can be done to reduce the travel that a clutch has?

Thanks in advance.

you can try bleeding the clutch.

the clutch and trans in the TC really aren't the greatest.

Just to mention - as it's not vey clear - everywhere above that I use the word clutch, I mean clutch pedal.

I don't think there is anything wrong with my clutch, I think there is slack in a cable or something (at least that's what it feels like).

there is no cable, the tc uses a hydraulic clutch cylinder like a brake does.

that's just normal, all clutches have a grab point and yes, it is pretty high. My dad's old VW jetta grabbed almost at the floor and the rest was just play.

I have no idea how to modify the clutch point because it's a hydrolic clutch, I actually love it because you don't need to *actually* push the clutch to the floor when you're shifting quickly, but it's not recommended....

Ideally you'd want it as low to the floor as you could get it while it still engaged. That way you could just stomp the clutch down and shift and theoretically never have to fully let the clutch pedal out. That way there would be no "feeling" involved in the clutch pedal, just slam and go. However... it would be quite difficult to drive smoothly on the street.
