Cold Air Intake CAI Panel??? Would You Recommend Buying One
Okey I just got a TRD CAI and now I am wondering if I should buy the Intake Panel From Doctor Isotope?
Does this help at all I mean its 20 bucks but im just curious if anyone has one or wud recommend it.
Any Information is helpful.
It States:
If you've got a CAI, there's a good chance you've had the upper bracket break on you. Well, instead of letting the lip on the inner fender wear a hole in your CAI piping, you should definitely consider a CAI panel. This panel mounts to the inner fender, just behind the underhood fusebox, and provides an insulated pass-thru for the CAI tubing, eliminating any chance of the piping rubbing (or rattling) against the chassis. This panel fits the AEM and TRD Cold Air Intakes.

MANY people on here have it. And I'll say that it's best to get it early while you have the CAI... before your lower bracket breaks on it. It will help after it breaks, but if it is still intact, this should keep it that way.
And like you said, it's just $20.

That's interesting.... is this a design issue for the TRD CAI's? I've had the Injen Techology CAI on 2 tC's and never had a rubbing issue. But for a buck I got a foot of black rubber molding and just ran it around the entire opening. looks great and got it from my Scion dealer for like a buck.
well for a dollar or two at your local dealer or autoparts store, just get a foot of 1/2 inch black rubber molding. and it looks nice and works just fine against occasional vibration movement while driving
Looks good, works good..and will save you 19 bucks...that you can put towards your next mod :D

The bracket thing is for all of them. The point at which it mounts to the engine bay (almost right under the MAF) has a crappy bracket that can't take the torque and engine movement with a CAI attached to it.

i had one from dr. iso.. i didnt like it.
the fitment was crappy... the pipe was rubbing with the plate it was making lots of noise... i had my upper bracket broke.. i had no lower bracket.... i ordered lower bracket from k&n.. it was free.. and fixed the upper bracket.. no need for the plate. And the piping was sitting really awkward with the plate. so i really hated the plate.
YES and i ordered the k&n plate!

its a litte hard to angle it and make it fit in with the cai. but iot looks a lot nicer. and if you stick some double sided tape instead of the bolt it came with it get rids of the rattle...real cheap investment
yep.. to install it.. you have to take off the wheel... take off the fender liner.. take off the lower bracket, take apart the piping.. slide the lower pipe out, secure the panel.. slide the pipe back in.. etc.
its not a big deal.. you can do it in 20 mins...
the biggest problem is the awkward sitting of the pipings.. the rubbing/noise....
(or you just take the battery out the whole fuse box out and you can slide it on the cai without taking it apart :D)
