its supposed to go into the bumper to get colder air. but i hear there is no difference between a short ram and cold air intake.

Well there are some differences, just depends what you want out of it. In hotter weather you want a long ram since you need a cold intake and there aren't any danger of puddles. Short ram sucks in the air under the hood, which obviously is hotter. I'd recommend short ram for cold weather to get that warm air in for better combustion. Besides, unless you have a damper for the long ram, you run the risk of sucking in water and hydro locking your engine.

I have a fujita cold air and I live in Goodyear AZ, but when the monsoons hit it gets pretty damn wet!! I don't think my intake came with a damper. the damps looks like a cone that was put in the middle of the piping right?

I dont know how the Fujita look like, but if it's a CAI, you can use this guide to prevent hydrolocking ur engine: very easy

My bad! You can go to Youtube and search for "Scion tC CAI hydrolocking" then click on the video name "06 Scion tC Injen CAI water soaked after rain + fix". That's the video I was talking about!

yeah it looks like a cone plate in between the short ram and long ram pipe.

I would go with a short ram. Easier to install, don't have to worry about the weather conditions, still sound great. Intakes don't really make any difference in power so i would rather have the comfort of driving and not worrying, no matter what the weather is.

But hey, that is just what would work for me.
