Default Cold Air Intake worth the cost?

Hey guys. I have an automatic tC. Is the cold air intake worth getting? Will it make a difference in sound and performance?

from the dealership? no. other than that, you might want to hive a intake aftermarket(cheaper, better) depends on your style

yes. yes u should and yes it is worth the cost. check ebay for aem or injen. any cold air under 210 shipped is a good price one of the cheapest hp mods. and it sounds "cool"

I also have an auto tC with the K & N CAI and I'm very happy with it. You'll feel the power coming off a red light or when passing someone on the highway. You'll hear the intake, but it gets louder (nice sound) at 3K+ RPM. It also gave my TRD exhaust a better sound.

For the amount of money it's really not worth it. You get what 5hp, maybe a little more. That's not enough to say Wow that was worth the $250 I just spent. If you can get one for $50 then it might be worth it. I used so many different intake setups on my Integ and Tacoma from a AEM, Injen, Akimoto and even a generic APC style intake and found that you can not tell by the seat of your pants which one is better. The power difference between them is so insignificant it's really worthless. If you really want more power you'll endup doing what I did and scrap the intake, header, exhaust for a turbo kit or a faster car.

Depends on the mod and the car you have. With an intake you will more notice the sound more than any huge power gains. The sound can fool you into thinking you are going faster than you really are. If you buy an intake do not spend a lot of money on it. Wait until cheaper models come out but be sure to get a quality filter. Any of the guaze K&N filters or a copy will breath well but the suck at filtering. Get a quailty foam filter like a UNI or something. I use them on my quad, truck and my chicks Accord.

can someone post a few links to some CAI for sale for the tc?
I was interested in the one from the dealer because of the warranty and etc. would another one void the warranty?

If I were you, I'll probably wait about a year or two with just a drop-in KN filter (found one less than $50 on ebay) ... Then I bet someone would start to sell used Injen intake for the half the price ... (People tend to go back to stock, when they want to sell the car ... ) ^_^
I did this with my old '01 gts

I just installed my injen cai and am very satisfied. It is quiet during normal driving but sounds very good(Ferrary-ish) under hard acceleration. plus the power.
get it from trdsparks.com good service and fast and free shipping
