Default Colder air for short rams.

Well I kind of made my own short ram for the car (not because iam cheap but because I refuse to pay 250 for a metal pipe and a filter) I used an aem dryflow filter, and made my own maf sensor and used the stock pipe. The reason I didnt want a cai is becuase of all the possibilities of hydrolocking, unlikely but still a chance I dont want to take.

So here is my question what is my best option to battle heat soak of the short ram. I see only 3, get an injen heat shield that wraps half way around the filter, get the monster motor works cold air box, get a ram air kit. Anyone have any ideas which would be the best? or if there are other options?

First off all...

If you refuse to pay the $250 or whatever for a pipe and filter... that does kind of mean you're cheap.

As for the heat soak, part of that is coming from the air around the pipe, so putting the sheild on or the air box won't completely help.

But if you're thinking of spending money on the air box... that's $125 for just a piece of metal that goes around an air filter. I'd rather put that $125 towards a real intake.

^^ true i agree... if you're gonna pay 125 for a heat shield... the injen is only like 200... i'd pay the 75 and get the cai.. but that's just me...

The reason for the no intake is also the fact that I will be buying a turbo soon and what I what I wanted to do now was get the car as ready for it as possible I know the kit comes with a short ram but I wanted to use something diff so I am doing it all now.

So anyways anyone know whats good out of these 3 things or if there is something else?
