Question Control Cable Replacement

So, I've looked everywhere for the DIY on this (Google AND ScionLife), couldn't find anything in the forums, except for the words "Uninstall Transmission Control Cable" but for one who's never uninstalled it, and even in the guide on technical guide it's pretty vague. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on this as far as how to uninstall it? I've already taken out the center console and dismounted the control cable from the shifter, but in the engine bay it seems like theres a rubber stopper holding it in to place and didn't know how to take that off without destroying it. I don't wanna pay that 1000.00 labor charge, so please if anyone has some suggestions, throw them my way. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the rubber bushings or another rubber piece on the cable? If it's the bushing you just have to pull the clip (pita to get off of there).

Yah, I've been working on this for over 2 weeks, and I'm getting fed up with it now - I'm talking about the rubber piece that's between the firewall and the engine bay, I've removed the bolt that holds it there, so its loose. Also I've noticed two bolts that are on the inside the firewall that are nearly impossible to get off with the plastic AC piece thats in the way that'd require me uninstalling the whole front dash, and all the pieces. Have you uninstalled your's before?

Can't say that I've had the pleasure of putting the cables in myself. The tC repair manual is available in the tech section. Should be able to tell you a step by step of how to replace the cables.

I broke the piece that you twist to pull the cable off the shifter base when installing my short throw. Would it be ok if I just slide it in and put the white plastic piece back in or will it not stay because of the brok piece?

Can't say for sure how long you can rig it and run it reliably. Just pop into the dealer and get a replacement piece. You'll have to replace it eventually, even if you manage to rig it to run.
