Coolant + oil leak no mix
Good afternoon to all I have just purchased a 2006 Psion TC automatic and it had a coolant leak issue known when I purchased it and since I’ve drove it home I was careful made sure to make frequent stops to allow it to cool down and drove carefully to make sure that the engine wasn’t over revved to avoid blowing a head gasket however, since I’ve made it home and brought it to my workshop it has developed a oil leak and I’m not sure if that was caused by the coolant leak or caused by me driving it with a coolant leak. The coolant was leaking from behind or around the intake manifold and the oil doesn’t appear to be leaking from the head gasket but it’s all around the bottom of the engine, so I’m not sure if anyone could give me assistance with this it would be much appreciated .
After getting the car to a usable workshop I walked around and explained the symptoms to a friend who is a mechanic. He said check the spark plugs for wetness and stood there while I checked them and we both saw they were way wetter than what they should be. So he opened the radiator cap and told me to bump the start switch. He was nearly shot in the face by a slug of water from the radiator. So he said that would be an indication of a severely blown head gasket and a warped head with how bad it was. As far as I’ve been told this car was a daily driver and only recently had overheating issues. So I bought a new head and head gasket set as well as new head bolts as I’d read somewhere on here there was an issue with weak head bolts from factory. Today was tear down mostly what I could get done. I managed to get the intake and exhaust off as well as all of the pulleys however prior to stopping for the night I believe I’ve got a road block with the amount of spacing required between the front of the engine and the frame. My question is is there enough spacing for me to pull the timing cover out or will I have to remove the engine as a whole before removing timing cover and cylinder head. Tomorrow I’ll go back to work sunrise to sunset and attempt to get it done as well as take pictures of various items to post in this thread. Additionally if someone could give me assistance associated with diagnosing the true cause of over heating. I would be grateful. Side not there was also a very little amount of red salt on the water pump housing behind the pulley which is what I believe the cause to be.
