Default crankcase breather???

i was wondering what people thought about those crankcase breathers. they look like a mini intake filter. they look good but can they cause damage to the engine? the spot that it goes in is a hose hooked up to the intake i belive, that takes hot air out of the crankcase by the suction of the intake. now if you remove that wouldnt you crankcase get really hot?

doesnt anyone have a real answer to as of why this would be good or bad for a vehicle? the only real benifit to having one would be the fact that the intake would not be sucking in the hot air. that is if i am right in what im thinking? does anyone have one in thier tc?

Default Filter

Assuming your not F/I, you'll have to cap off that hose to the intake mani. It will be a vac leak obviously once removed.

As far as taking hot air out of the engine I'm going to say im pretty sure it doesnt do that. It just relieves pressure off the head. I have not seen a stock engine design of the valve cover and TRD intake system to explain it further but possibly the air goes in through the bigger hose near the intake and then circulates throuhg the valve cover to the smaller hose on the passenger side down into the mani.

In short, I always heard that when you boost the ventilation lines should be disconnected and simply replaced with same small filter you are talking about so that positive pressure is not placed on the head. Also that just putting a filter on them reduces build up being sucked into the mani. ie catch can function.
