Default Cross Your Fingers!

That I don't get stranded because my clutch is gone. Now, obviously, I'm not a mechanic. But I really think that my clutch is going. I have a very small engagement point which is right at the end of the clutch. If I start the car out and stay in first gear just loping, I can hear a rattle which I'm pretty sure is the throwout bearing. This really sucks right now. I'm not prepared for it in any way. I just hope I don't get stranded on the side of the road. What do you guys think?

I've been driving stick for 5 years. And no, I'm not trashing it. I drive in ALOT of stop and go situations at work. I'm just wondering if it really is my clutch going.

I drive spirited, but I don't do launches. I have 45,000 miles. There is nothing else wrong with the car. I have done no mods to the motor or tansmission.

kinda strange...has the car been josseled at all? hit a bump, curb or rough roads or something?

if you drive as you say, which is well and correctly, you shouldn't have this problem, anybody else drive your car?

Well, I travel the rough roads of Baltimore 5 days a week. I didn't know that could have anything to do with my clutch though. I do drive like I say, I don't act stupid because I expect to keep my tC for a LONG time. No one else drives my car besides me. The only thing that I could think is that the constant stop-and-go traffic has worn down my clutch REALLY fast. I'm just wondering if the symptoms are a clutch going bad...

Sadly daily driving a clutch in traffic can indeed burn a clutch.........even at your miles.......

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I don't really have the money for it, but somehow I'll have to get a new clutch and get it installed.
