Default dc headers and spipe and car sounds horrible

i got dc sport headers and zpi s-pipe and let me tell u its imbarressing. it sounds so bad i seriously dont wanna drive my car. it doesnt sound like i have an exhaust leak but im gonna try and tighten everything again anyways just to double check. its either that or the car cant breathe right because i have stock catback and that might be the problem. t

most headers produce a loud, annoying sound.

the only way your going to get rid of that sound is by taking of the headers. the headers make your car loud and raspy. ive been there and have had many many hard times with this. i had the dc headers, 2.5 inch custom mid-pipe, and injen exhaust....SOUNDED LIKE ___! i took off the headers and the car sounds freakin awesome. its very deep and kind of sounds like a wrx. the headers give you the most power but give the worst sound. i wish someone would of told me this before all the experiments. i did the stock exhaust setup and sounded like ___ too. so its up to you just thought id help you save some money.

If you're going to run a free flowing exhaust setup, such as one with an aftermarket header and a header back exhaust system then you're definitely going to need additional muffling. Any exhaust setup you buy is going to have to be designed with an additional resonator, or a more aggressive muffler, to help muffle the sound. Draxas is aware of this problem, and they have stated that they're going to look into offering an exhaust with a resonator or some other form of additional muffling for those customers with headers. Alphawerk's exhaust systems seems to be designed with a header in mind from the beginning, so, you could also look into their exhaust system as an alternative. I doubt any s-pipe or mid pipe by itself, no matter the design, will help with the sound unless it has a resonator built in.

I have the DC header and DC axle back exhaust system, you have a few options when using them together. The DC header and the TRD axle back is a no, no, then again most may already know this.

The TRD added more growl to the system, it was louder in the car than it was outside. When I changed to the DC header I was already aware of the TRD axle back issue, this is currently on loan to another club member.

I installed the DC system, I have to say when I fired it up it was an eye opener, in a good way. I did not install resonator insert at first and it is defiantly louder than the TRD, it has the deep growl and you can hear it come up on the pipe. If you add the resonator which slips in the rear of the exhaust it drops the DB a lot and gives you more of the TRD sound.

You may already have checked but consider these.

1. Make sure the header is torque to the 20 lbs and is not leaking at the head, I missed one bolt at 10lbs and had a leak.
2. The exhaust gasket donut from the original cat.
3. Air fuel sensor (top) on the header is in place tight.
4. Did you do the (lower) O2 sensor with the anti-fouler.
