Default Dealer pricing for TRD exhaust install

So I went to the dealership today, and the prices on the accessories seems way high. They told me that the price they charge for the part w/ a new car is the total price for parts + install + any extra work (alignment, etc.). They also said those prices are non-negotiable and they can't drop the labor charge any lower or waive it at all. I got them to throw in a front strut bar for what I believe was extraneous labor charges, but it's still pretty nuts. Here's what I was given:

TRD Exhaust - $699 total. The MSRP on this part from TRD is $525. So that's.. $175 of labor for a 30 minute, hour tops job. A little gougy, but the free TRD front strut bar kinda makes up for it.

TRD Springs - $599 total. Now this is what I'm concerned about, I don't know how long the labor is for the install and alignment, what do you guys think? The MSRP on springs is $200, so that's $400 labor, even as high as $100/hour they're quoting 4 hours work.

Before you ask, I'm going with TRD and having it dealer installed to roll everything into financing and have 0 warranty issues. I know the prices are high to begin with, I'm willing to eat it. The service guy is also telling me that I can't order the parts elsewhere (i.e. TRDSparks) and have them install, because they won't warranty it unless they order the parts. This seems ridiculous to me, they're already charging me full labor on a new car, and they won't use brand new parts ordered elsewhere?

Tell me if I'm getting screwed please guys, this is all sounding fishy to me. The bottom line price is good for me, but I don't want to pay out the ___ to line their pockets.

Default Trust Me

I am a complete moron and it took me about 20 minutes to get my 300 pound a$$ under the car and install the exhaust. Get er off of trdsparks.com for 1/2 your dealers price and take the 20 minutes to install it yourself. Its just a few bolts dude.

As far as springs, may want to have a dealer do it, but many folks on here had their springs installed somewhere else, then took their car in to the dealer (not the one that they purchased from), complained about a small pull and got the alignment for free. Nothing better than sticking it to the man.

Having a 3rd party do the install should not void your warranty, the parts themselves carry the warranty.

Dont get me wrong, Im all about keepin it real while keeping it safe, but the TRD exhaust (I have it and love it), aint worth no $600 bucks man. You can get a sweet full system for about that much, which should give ya horsepower, not just sound.

But seriously, dont pay for the exhause install.

Install on my muffler was $60 and I paid less for the part than what's on the Scion website.

trdsparks.com

$400~ for trd exhuast, $200~ for trd springs including shipping.

Install should be cheap, maybe $150 at any local car shop. It takes like 10 mins to install the exhaust if they have a lift, and maybe an hour for springs.

Also, it doesnt void your warranty if you do these two mods unless you seriously mess something up, like jamming a hole into something important, but seriously thats not going to happen.

And why would you want to add $1000 to your financing, did you want to get screwed?

if you purchase the exhaust with the car, it should be the their menu listed price (go to the dealers website to find out that price). the exhaust INCLUDES install. the price should be exactly what the price is listed on scion.com, or close to it, because of pure pricing.

parts that cost extra to install when you buy the car at items like the steering wheel, springs, shocks, intake (must be bought outside of the sale of the car)

I spoke to TRDSparks today, definitely not doing anything through the dealership, they've already lied to me and tried to gouge me saying they can't change the labor cost. If I even stay with this dealer I'll buy the car stock and do the rest elsewhere. Thanks for the comments.

buy outside the dealer its way cheaper, this is what i paid.
trd exhaust from streets $150, i installed 30 min with floor jacks.
tein h tech $157, install by driftech $200 in 1 1/2 hours
you are also paying interest on all of that, but if you want to hear the exhaust huummn put the megan mid pipe and if you want the engine to huuummn put c.a.i.

I hope everything works out with you buying the car there. I talked to my parts rep yesterday about everything we talked about and he's contacting the parts rep for your area to have a "talk" with the parts and service people at that dealership. They were giving you a real big run around. I know we're probably not the cheapest on the labor either but it's way better then what they were telling you.

yeah, dealerships must have mechanics capable of working on lamborghini's to be charging that much money. take it to a respectable garage, they can usually easily beat a dealership price.

why even bother with a shop? its 2 bolts and 2 hangers. jack the car up and take the 20 mins it takes to do it all, as well as saving yourself an hour of shop labor

i believe working on your car yourself gives you somewhat of a bonding time and you also see what's under there and if you have any problems with the car. but the springs part is different some things you don't have the tool or the patience for, and that's respectable, but something like an intake or axel back you can easily do yourself.
