with my low end torque... what can i do to boost that up? i hae pullys, cai and exhaust...i gonna go w dc 421 headers next... but is their anything else thats not too drastic? also 4th gear will bring us to like 110mph... im not planning to go much faster than that... is their a way to change the gearing? thats probably a dumb question

I don't believe that you can change the gearing without spending a HUGE amount of money. If you want to improve low end torque, you can start by removing your cold air intake.

Go back to the stock intake and you'll get low end back.

^^or even a short ram intake can improve low end torque (over a full cai at least)

dc headers are not 421, only the monster motorworks headers are. anyway, the only way to boost your low end torque now would be a supercharger i suppose.

anyway, seriously, i have compareable upgrades to you minus the headers and i get around just fine. you can't do anything for low end torque, but you have a manual, that means you can shift whenever you want. if you want yout tc to move just shift it to be as close to 4000 rpms as possible.

your tc should be plenty quick with all those bolt ons. but the engine isn't made for low end torque, it has a mid to high powerband. just practice your shifting and rev matching your downshifts and you'll be very surprised what your tc can do.

Smaller diameter tires will change your final gear ratio and give you more torque in all gears. Only problem is you have to make them half their size to double the torque. Loose weight or force more air into the engine are the other options.

I wouldn't say that the tC has poor low end torque. It has a 2.4 liter engine which is pretty decent for a car in this class and produces more low end torque than a honda for example. Sure, its greatest power is a higher, but the low end torque for the tC really isn't that bad. Like I said though, an intake will hurt it for a minor increase at the extreme high range rpms

rricerimport. you can't compare cars worth more than 4 times our msrp and say you are disapointed for in what you paid for.

and i didn't mean to imply that the tc is weak in low-end torque, but hell, when i am moving away from a stop, i barely even rev up because it pulls great in first gear.

but like i said, it is just a matter of picking your gear for how much power you want.

It will feel different if you are not driving - have someone else drive your car and see the difference as a passenger.

are you kidding me?! If you are so dissapointed in the tC for that reason...pay the 70k plus to get one of those cars and you'll never notice the difference...
I'm just really blown away from that statement...

anyways, if you wanna compare to those guys, strap a turbo on that tC....you'll smoke em if you build the block/boost a little

if you want to feel the low-end torque, maybe you need to look at upgrading your friends and not your car:

When I drive around with my friends in their geo metros and big rig trucks, I can usually beat them off the line NO PROBLEM.

...did you just say "usually"? you should be able to beat a geo metro off the line starting in second gear! and big trucks usually have big v8's, so that can be a run. but if you ever lose to a geo metro barring some maverkick manaic with some kind of uber metro running boost and nitrous on a chevy small block. i am going to make you take driving lessons.

man, i don't understand why people compare those high end bmws and mercedez to our tc.....dude the tc is a pretty damn good deal....nice interior, nice looking, decent performance and RELIABLE.....take a ride in my boosted tc, and get a real sense of true acceleration from a 4 banger....i'm not saying my boosted tc is the fastest, but it makes you appreciate speed in a new sense.... and i guarentee you will grip on to anything you can, and your adrenaline will be kicked way high...i guarentee it....

If you want to compare our torque to that of somewhat comparable vehicles, just look at the s2000. Yah the horsepower is great, at 7800rpms, but the torque dynoed is 119.6 Now that is pathetic!

i wasnt comparing, i was just saying, what a way to make a car feel slow, even though i thought my car was pretty fast before that, but man are those things fast or what.

i know there is a price difference, a pretty big one i might add, but i would pay the 85k for the m5 if i had the money like my friend.

not bashing just showing an easy way to make a car look bad if your looking to sell it, just gives you another reason to sell and move up
