custom? as in homemade? the air fuel ratio of the engine is determined by the exact size and shape of the mass airflow meters mounting location. This has to be exact. IF its not your fooling to ecm and the car will not run right. Go get the code read, it could be an overly rich/lean code, or you could have damaged the maf sensor. Or it could not be related. Either way it cannot be fixed without knwing what exactly caused it.

reflash and reset are 2 different things.
Even if you reset the ECU, it will just put up the same code after a few minutes of driving.

Did you disconnect the negative when you where putting the exhaust on?

It says on most exhausts when putting them on to make sure you disconnect the negative for 10 seconds then putting it back on then starting the car to make sure the car doesn't sense something is wrong.

Retrojay, if you haven't already, disconnect the battery's negative terminal, wait about 30 seconds, and re-connect. This will RESET the ECU - no need for a reflash - and allow it to begin adjusting to your intake's new (presumably) higher air flow when you start it back up. Your intake's instruction sheet should have mentioned this.

If you still get a CEL do what redwar said and have the fault code read. If you don't have access to an OBD-II code reader try Autozone or another auto parts store. Many will scan your codes for free.

By the way what brand of intake is this and are you sure it's compatible with your model year tC? (2007 has different MAF sensor than '05/'06.)

I actually think u should disconnect it for various minutes, just to be sure. That's why it's best to disconnect the battery while doing breathing mods. Also not to burn out a sensor. I say this because here in SL someone fried their sensor on the TB while changing to an Alphawerks.
