Default do you need to stick your head under car to install axleback/exhaust?

lol...so basically I want to install an after market exhaust. I haven't bought it yet and am still deciding on what to get. But in the list of things I want to get done, I need to figure out what I can install myself and budget my priorities.

My question is: for all those that installed the axleback yourself, did you jack up your car and stick your head under your car to remove stock exhaust and replace with aftermarket exhaust?

I read a few posts saying that some of the nuts are super tight and may require an air gun....or huge bicept. Haha i don't want to try loosening nuts with the entire car dangling over my head. I personally don't trust jack stands...

Uhm your pretty much have to get under there to reach the bolts on the midpipe unless you have super long arms, and you are going to have to take off the rubber hangers which are a pain.

If you use 2 jackstands on each side in the right spot there ill be no problems whatsoever, I have used them a lot. Just make sure you are on flat ground and put something in front of the wheels so it wont roll.

Yes you need to get under your ride to install an aftermarket exhaust and yes its simple. You don't need to be strong to get things done, you just have to use your common sense. Just like the question you asked..if you really thought about it before creating this thread, you would have gotten your answer already.

Drive it over a hole in the ground if you are worried about things falling on you. The next best thing are a couple of ramps but I think you will have more luch with the pipe over the rear suspension if the wheels are hanging down from the body.

Haha cant believe im reading this post - i was under my car with no front end in it when i had the motor out - the only thing keeping the front end off the ground was two jackstands - dont know why you dont trust them - as long as youre on level ground and the jack stands are rated for the load (i use 2 1/2 ton stands - our whole car only weighs 1.5 tons) you are perfectly fine - one thing i would NEVER advise is to get under a car supported by a jack alone - always a very bad idea - but as long as you have jack stands youre good to go.

Also just fyi - as long as the car is on level ground and on properly rated jack stands - you are putting your life in more danger by simply driving your car than you are being under it

2 jackstands since the wheels are on the ground but either set up correctly are safe. you only need two, if that, for an exhaust. once you have been under your car a couple of times you will get alot more comfortable with it.
