I just don't like the idea of putting ebay parts on my basically brand new car. It's an 05, but i've kept it well.
My Weapon R SRI is in the mail.

If you think that putting on an intake is going to result in shaving some time off.....

wow[/quote]

An intake alone will not shave off time, so you did make a correct assertion, however i failed to mention there are other small upgrades to my car as well.

Then you cant say you'll post 1/4 mile gains on your ebay pipe w/ K&N intake, unless you do a w/stock and w/ebay run and let us see. Which...regardless...you'd be telling us it'll show gains.

I think you need to clarify yourself, because you got us all think you're shaving off a few 10ths with your ebay.

Ive got an ebay intake in my 06 tc and i have had no problems. It is all the same, even the name brand intakes, the only thing that would make a difference is the filter.

My only real concern with buying ebay is the overall fit, warranty, and life of the finish on the pipe.

All i did was install a K&N filter, and it sounds and performs great. :-)

Finally, i only paid around $40.00 INCLUDING shipping
And while your at it take pictures of the leprechauns and unicorns in your pit crew.

Are you serious?

As far as fit , warranty and finish. It fit perfectly, i still have my warranty, and the brushed polish finish is good. i may get a different one, though more of anodized red or orange if i can find it. I took my car into the dealer for the 5k oil change and it didnt void my warranty, hell they wanted to change the filter for me, but i said no cuz its still good. they cant void ur warranty neways cuz it aint hurtin nothing.

IMO, many ebay items are constructed cheaply. however, it doesnt mean they don't work. for example, an intake is a tube with a filter on the end. the filter might be crap, but a tube is a tube no matter what it's made of. it's round, it's 3" and mandrel bent. i don't see a problem with it's design. for $40 bucks, i would get it. if it's gonna rust, then spray rustoleum on it.

strut bars, springs, coilovers from no brand are things i wont get on ebay. the structural integrity of the parts plays a VERY major part in it's function. i have seen a BOMZ strut bar bend when you apply your body weight on it. i rather go to home depot and get a full solid steel bar than one from BOMZ.

I see a problem already. The MAF for this car is designed to meter the air through a 2.5" pipe, not a 3" pipe. Even the Injen CAI, which is a 3" intake, crunches down to 2.5" at the MAF.

2.5? Damn my CAI has a 2.75" diameter, and runs fine, never crunches down a size until it gets to the throttle body and has a step down coupler, but only an 1/8" difference. The MAF doesnt really have a set piping size it reads from, as long as the ratio is right. It reads the air and tells the ecu how much fuel do dump in. The point at which the MAF is mounted on the airbox is bigger than 2.5 i believe and it does the job stock. Just as long as the air/fuel ratio isnt too extreme ull be ok. until then ull have problems maybe with a CEL.

Yeah, that's sort of what I meant. Just said it wrong. And yeah, the Fujita is 2.75 all the way through, but I have read about people getting CELs with it all the time. Not to mention, the ratio will never be right:

Area of 2.5" pipe ~ 4.9 sq. in.
Area of 2.75" pipe ~ 5.9 sq. in.

If the MAF reads x flow, it will assume x is flowing in a 2.5" pipe, not a 2.75" pipe. You can see the cross-sectional area difference is quite large: 1 square inch, (20% larger) which means the volume of air is 1 cubic inch PER INCH of pipe. So the car will run lean, and if it gets too bad...CEL.

At least, that's my understanding of it.

Edit: If you saw this before the edit I apologize. I forgot that a 2.5" pipe is the DIAMETER, not the radius.

Wow you people are complete freaking idiots, A PIPE IS A PIPE, is the AEM or FUJITA sticker gonna really make a difference. I got a aem intake for cheap and a ebay intake for cheap, its the same crap. Go ahead and pay 275$ for a peice of aluminum that doesnt even get you a gain.

Hey, its like this. All intakes are the same as far as how they work. The filter may make a difference but other than that, theyre the same. My ebay intake has given me no problems. It fits and looks good at the same time. U pay alot for a name brand, ur just getting screwed over for a name just so someone can fill their big pockets.
