ecu for na application
i'm new here and going to get a tc soon. (2 motnhs tops)
looking at parts i dont see any remapped ecu's or chips out for the tc. but i do understand that the when purchasing the trd supercharger they remap the ecu for you and increase the max rpms correct?
so would it be more of a deal with getting ahold of the dealer tool and reprogramming it to work for an na application on 91 octane to get a couple more ponies on top of that?
also for piggyback units whats a good one to go with? that wont kill my engine. and do they remove the top speed limiter and rev limiter also?

i dont have a s/c but im pretty sure they dont increase your max rpm. Toyotas are not high reving engines if you wanted that get a honda they need to rev high to make their little power. as for remaping the ecu for n/a i dont think its that easy

there are no actually ECU upgrades for tCs,
as for the TRD s/c reflash, you are getting bigger injectors, which means more fuel. you need to basically RESET or TEACH the ECU to read correct info and dump the right amount of fuel, etc.
that reflash will do nothing for your n/a tC
and no, it does not increase the revs

wow thanks guys i guess i'll go emanage then, and see what i can do from there.
i want to free up the rev limiter so i can hit higher top speeds at the salt flats when i go with my old car club once in awhile.

its a little harder to find a unichip tuner atleast out here and they charge about 100 an hour to tune a emanage at alot of shops out here

raising the rev limiter is pointless on an otherwise stock motor. The poor flow of the stock head, the cams and the huge stroke will not allow you to make more power. If you look at the dyno graphs, you can see the power already dropping off towards the redline. The power will just drop further beyond the stock rpm limit. Also the piston velocity would be really high from the 96mm(I think) stroke. Just get it tuned to the factory rev limit and leave it be, unless you get some major engine work done.

freein your Revs isn't going to give you higher top speeds
