Default electrical smell

alright guys this scent that i am smelling from my car is haunting me. everytime when i turn on the heat blowing at the windshield it blows out a bad electrical smell. like something is burning. is n e 1 having this problem too? or wut could it be? and yesterday, the button that u press to determine how hard of the air to blow out did function. i had it blasting and then i couldnt turn it down a couple notches, but then later in the afternoon it was fine again. is this covered in warranty? all your inputs would help, thanks again!

Let me guess... an 07?

Seems they are having a lot of HVAC issues with them. Burning smell.. HVAC control module failing, etc.

Take it in and have them look at it asap.

my 06 xB does the same thing ... but ONLY when the heat is turned on. bought it brand new a few weeks ago ... has done it since day 1. gonna see if it goes away after a few more miles, a few people told me that it was "protective coatings" on the parts but that it burns away. sounds weird to me. have owned 20 + vehicles in my life and none of them did this. if it does not go away, I am going back to my dealer !!!

the engine does have a coating on it for new vehicles. it will go away in a month after you bought it.

sure thing. It will go away though. no need to worry. electrical burning smells, and exhaust coating burning smells will be completly different.

that coating stuff almost smells as if you were riding your clutch and you get that burnt clutch smell.
