here's their mid-engine Del Sol from several years back.

Well... I'd say automatic "NO".
With intake/exhaust paths, you do NOT want a spiraling tornado effect. Why? Well, this spiral is the most efficient form of fluid transfer whenever 2 fluids are moving in 2 directions... ( think of the coke bottles, air out of the bottom, water out of the top)
With a motor, we have air moving in one direction... in... nothing is coming out through the intake tract... therefore, a spiral isn't efficient at all... a straight, linear flow is what you want.
Also, you can't compress air without a compressor wheel. Those goofy boat electric motors that some morons stick on their intake tracts have been shown to produce about .01 lbs of boost, and those things move more air than some artificial swriling motion.
