Default An exhaust that makes running a header bearable?

Hey everyone,

Im taking feedback from several Scion tC owners about offering an exhaust system that makes running a header bearable, sound wise. I understand that just about every exhaust kit out there, when used with a header, sounds like crud.

Would you be interested in purchasing an exhaust that allowed you to run a header and keep the exhaust note reasonable?

Let us know....

there is definitly a demand out there but it would have to have a good tone. An exhuast that sounds good with a header is key, not soley making a quiet exhaust (people could leave the stock one on if they want quiet). If you can do it, I will buy it. -Brian

Phillip, as most of you know, is running the Alphawerks header, our S-Pipe, and our exhaust. We recently installed a second small resonator and he said the sound is just like it was before installing the header. Nice and throaty..no rasp. His wife will even ride in the car again! ;)

He is dynoing the car tomorrow. He is trying to get a team member to video his car ASAP..... Then all of you will see what the exhaust sounds like.

Draxas will make a decistion of whether to sell two exhausts (one with resonator and one without) or just one exhaust with the extra resonator. We need to see if the extra resonator is costing us any power before we can make that decision.

Chicago_Guy,

Not sure yet on the Resonator. It wont be THAT big... We can make the diameter about 6", and pack enough material inside to absorb the sound waves.. It will of course be a straight through design to keep exhaust velocity up.

Make sure the resonator is a perforated core resonator and not a louvered core. This way it absorbs some of the sound without impeding the smooth flow of the exhaust gases. Last thing you want is turbulence in the flow.

Oh, and yeah, make a version that doesn't wake up the neighborhood every time you drive up. I am tired of hearing, "I knew you were coming about 5 minutes ago...damn that thing is loud!"

From the post it looks as though they havent even begun the R&D part yet.

they know how to buy a resonator...

www.jegs.com
www.summitracing.com

or call their distributor
put the thing after the cat before the muffler. record the sound. put it on a dyno. should take max a week.
