Default Exhaust Setup.. Need Help.

I've had my tC for a couple of months now (4 to be exact). I'm about to hit 7k miles pretty soon. Any, I finally got tired of my tC being "stock and plain". I'm ready to change (ready to buy) my whole OEM exhaust. This is where I need help.

I originally wanted the AlphaWerks headers but I saw those were discontinied so I picked the DME headers instead.. ok here's the list:

Headers: DME
S-pipe: Megan Racing
Mid pipe: Megan Racing
Axle Back: TRD

Thats pretty much it.. and injen CAI..

Let me know if there are better setups or some thing I'm not doing right. Thanks!

trd exhaust is just as restrictive as the stock exhaust. save your money and get something better for the axelback portion.

and if i was going to do it all over again, i'd get the dezod n/a cat back exhaust.

the dezod sounds good, AND it is a S-pipe back exhaust.

My question is (not meaning to thread jack) is what does the dezod NA sound like with a header?

probably raspy like all header's and aftermarket header combinations because you have no cats and not alot of sound dampening.

What headers would be the best for this system?

Here's a few other setups that i think will be a little better for you

1. Header - DC sports
S pipe - Invidia
Magnaflow - 18-30" resonator
Catback exhaust - Ark N2 or Dt-s

2. Header - Strup
Magnaflow - 18-30" resonator
Catback - Dezod N/A

3. Header - DC sports
S pipe - Megan
Magnaflow - 18-30" resonator
Catback - Ark N2 or Dezod N/A ( minus the s pipe suggestion)

Ok. let me help you out. What are your long term goals? going to turbo your car? if so, forget the headers and everything and get something 2.5" (ie. Dezod exhaust)

If not, then 2.25" piping is all you need.

Don't wanna go turbo.. This will be the only "engine" work I'll do for a while. Really wanna focus on exterior.

Number2's suggestion is looking pretty nice. Appreciate everyones input. Anything else in mind Mightygnu?

GO CUSTOM!!!

i went with a magnaflow muffler in place of the stock resonator location, and straight piping from there.

sounds real clean, and best part is, it has the stock tip so cops dont give me any problems..

heres a pic:

piping is 2.25"

i have an aftermarket axleback (dc sports) and i've never gotten ANY problems from cops for it...now the tint, thats another thing.

plus, if your exhaust sounds like a race car, but has a stock looking exhaust tip, thats not going to stop a cop from giving you a noise violation or illegal modification/fix it ticket.

OP- imo, save your time and money and just go with a header back exhaust, ie. keep the stock header and upgrade everything back-flow of it. THen you won't have to worry about continually re-working/tuning the exhaust so it doesn't sound raspy and like poo.... ie. the same mistake hundreds of other tc-modders have made when upgrading teh exhaust.
