Default extended my MMW intake..

i bought the weaponsR intake a few months ago.. and i did notice a lose in torque in the lower to mid RPM.. this conquers with the intake test done awhile back where the MMW intake lost 30ftlb at the bottom... my plan was to go to a muffler shop and have them bend me some tube to extend the intake and turn it into a CAI aswell as hopefully get a few ftlb back..

i was picking up some oil a few weeks back at pepboy and saw that a company call spectre sells chromed plastic peices that you can use to build your own intake .. well.. i ended up using those to extend the intake.. i have to say it does make quite a difference.. again this is seat of the pants testing.. but the car feels like it is pulling alot stronger.. my next purchase if i keep it as a CAI is to purchase that valve from AEI (i think ) to prevent the intake from sucking up water... living in south florida with rain and hurricanes i have drivin thru some deep water that may have stalled the car if i had the intake where it is now..

30lbs/ft? i find this very hard to believe. that would put the car at 120lbs of torque?
150wtorque - 30
You went with the SRI intake? if thats true, you shouldnt have lost any torque. The only time that you might feel that some low end torque is lost is when you put the full CAI on.

Youre situation is weird

sorry.. i meant relative to the the others like the injen..

here is the test in summery..

notice how compared to the injen at 3500 RPM the weaponsR is way low.. i started with a dropin K&N then went to the weaponR.. the car just felt weak until it got to about 4k with the weaponR.... but i just lives with it because it did come on STRONG after 4K... with this small mod it just feels like it is pulling stronger in the low RPMs.. (maybe ill get to the dyno sometime )

actually the SRI from what i have always heard/read are best for higher RPMs.. where the longer CAI will give you better low end.. as for pics.. ill try to get one online soon.. i knew i should have taken pics while i was doing it but i just wanted to get it done and buttoned up.. [/i]

Sure... be warned.. the spectre peices are 3" not 2 1/2 like most CAI tubes are...so it is alittle tight inside the fender... but it is do-able.. ill post what i did tonight if i get a chance.. hopefully i can get a pic aswell..

meh... the injen cai is 3" its tight but not too bad if you start from the wheel well and work up.

Careful with the Specter pieces I've seen plastic stuff made by them get brittle and crack after a while

ok.. here it is..

the first one is a 3" extension then a 45 degree extension.. a rubber cuppler , another 45 degree extension and the last one you can't see is a 22 degree extension.. i do have spare parts so i may get back under and add a either another 3" exntension or cutdown a 3" extension and add it... the MMW filter had a wide base.. so mine is wedged between the fenderwell skirt and some foam i had to placed over a screw that is used for grounding... i left it there because i really did not want my filter too low (for flooding)... but ill feel better when it is not wedged.. ..

i also placed some foam on the edges of the hole.. you can;t really see it in ths picture but one strip is just above the red line of the second 45 degree part.. any question feel free to ask..

Hey man that looks great! I extended my WR too but i just basically built the "RAM" attachment that WR sells for 50$ but i made mine for 15$...
I like the way yours looks better but i was skeptical about the WR filter fitting in the fender as well(its huge) so mine still sits in the engine bay with the ram air attachment hooked up to the filter's top flange like this...

sorry about the huge pics.

also one TIP get rid of that crappy WR PCV hose...its crap no matter how you look at it.
it collapses when the engine is under load(aka when you not lookin ) just use the hose from the stock box works perfectly...
