Default Factory hp...

I have a big question...
Why do the factory horsepower is less than the dyno charts that some people post... and they already put an intake or headers?

factory is rated at the flywheel. dyno's mesuare your bhp at the wheels, so there is going to be bhp loss due to the transmission and other things driven by the engine (alternator for instance)...

... also the weight of the wheels plays an important factor on how much torque and power is transfered to the ground. The heavier the wheels the more energy required to overcome their inertia, therefore less power transfered to the ground.

not, its not uncommon to see torque the same or slightly higher than hp. it depends on how the manufacturer wants the engine to perform.

They posted 160 b/c that's what the engine is capable of
producing at the flywheel.

In auctality, the tC only produces mid 130's-140 at the wheels.

the engine produces 160hp 163tq at the flywheel
put it this way, the engine makes that much power. just the engine itself.

now put in the master cylindre, clutch, tranny, axles, drivtrain, wheels, as you can tell that is a lot of metal and lots more stress. so the HP will be less at teh wheels.

TQ being higher or lower or the same as HP is all in the engines design of crank, rod length, piston compression ratio, and cams

Do a dyno run w/ a stock tC, you wont see 160hp

I've seen tC do dyno runs w/ an intake and they barely clear 130hp

thats what he said, the engine puts out 160. but at the wheels is making around 140-150 (130 must have been auto)
