Default Forced Induction on Automatic...

On a few posts reguarding Forced Inductio, beit Turbo or Super charged...I hear a few comments on asking whether or not the automatic transmission will handle the additional power...

My question is, if the added power is "too" much for the automatic...are there additional parts, or aftermarket parts for the transmission??

Or are you pretty much SOL?

Torque is the killer of Trannys. My educated guess is that since the TRD blower is a CSC unit, and since most turbos dont have instant on the throttle full boost you should be safe. My reasoning is that it takes both of these types of units time to build power, and its a more gradual build, rather than a brutal instant injection of torque, like the case of a roots type blower.

Typical weak spots on high powerautomatic FWD cars are axles, and input shafts into the trannies. Not sure if they are available now, but typically appear once the high powered cars come out.

Sorry Im no help.....

differentials and axles are the weak points.

but when adding FI you should probably pick up an ATF cooler and throw it up somewhere. when i do the SC i'll be adding one.

just grab a universal one from summit racing or jegs and run the lines yourself. make sure to add a little bit more fuel to it also...

also there should be some high stall torque converters on the market one day but you'll have to adjust your driving style a little bit

Front clutch packs love to go out on our cars. See if you can't find a shift kit as well. A cooler is a much needed upgrade, I'd drop the penny and get a nicer one with a fan attached.

What he said!!!!!!

in my experience with atomatic trannies, better performing clutch packs aren't ever too hard to find... its the other stuff.

Are the differentials on Auto tCs weak? on my last car, the differential was only a problem during prolonged burnouts.....which is hard on a FWD that drags teh rear tires.
