Default FORGET SUPERCHARGER! IT'S TURBO TIME!

I have successfully found two places in the Bay Area that can install and dyno tune a turbo for me and so now, I'm going to either get the GReddy Kit or the Turbonetics. I am open to other kits as well, preferabely Dezod.

So help me out people! which one should I get? I'm aware that GReddy isn't CARB legal, nor is Turbonetics or any turbo kit out there. But how do those with turbo kits get smogged anyways? Do they remove the kit and go back to stock for a short period of time? HELP ME!

Also, I want the kit that is reliable and can be used for daily driving and have the LEAST amount of issues. A long with that, IS IT safe to boost up to 300whp, daily driven, WITHOUT having to upgrade the internals?

As a side note, is it also safe to have a 50 shot of NOS? I want it for show and incase I need to "Catch up" with someone that's pulling on me...

There are a two ways to pass smog with a turbo in CA. Removing the kit would be the legal way of doing it, the other way you'll have to ask around your local import scene, specifically the Honda drivers.

FWIW both Dezod and Turbonetics offer downpipes with cats.

the cat on the downpipe does not make it carb legal though FYI, aftermarket turbo kits are automatically NOT carb legal on our car...i looked into this a while ago also, the guys at Dezod will tell you the same

Your best bet with turbo's in CA is don't do it. But if your like me and are going to do it anyway, you had better be prepared to take it off come smog-time. No kit is legal in CA, because of the removal of the CAT on the exhaust manifold and the carbon filter in the airbox. There are places around that will pass your car for the right price, but those places don't usually last long. Another thing to consider is that a lot of CA cops like to pick on us tuners, so a quiet, "sleeper" turbo kit would be the way to go. Remember, if a cop has suspicion that your vehicle is illegally modified, he can inspect it, and issue a mean fix it ticket. Just some things to consider.
