Hey I am interested in that group buy. But I did have a couple questions.

1) What mode would be "normal" mode? (as in if I didn't have the throttle controller)

2) If I remove the throttle controller, does the car return to the factory settings?

3) If I am currently driving, can I change modes while driving? (for example cruising at 60 and then swapping to sports)

4) Has there been any reported problems with throttle controllers? (ie. check engine lights, etc)

5) Is there a difference between the throttle controllers for say Honda and toyota (besides the harness)?

6) How does it actually work? I thought the ecu controls the throttle?

7) How do I pay for the throttle controller in the group buy?

8.) Also, I tried calling the TWP phone number and it said that the number was disconnected. Was that due to a phone service error in your area?

Lol. I'm a poor college student. All my money goes into tuition and beer.

$129 is a LOT of beer. Just want to make sure about everything.

 

I was pretty sure from the get-go that TWP is just another shoe-string import venture (bringing products from China or, perhaps, South Korea). As such, I seriously doubted there'd be much in the way of customer (or tech) support. [But I might be completely wrong about this.] Anyway, it was the price that attracted me.

I did some homework too, and found not only the Blitz but other "throttle position controllers."

(PPS: I am indebted to you, Mr. Wolfpack, for addressing concerns that will be of interest to all of us - IF they are fully and accurately answered! I think 'GrnBrownies' might very well not have access to the information you require, even if his bonafides are good. I'm a cynic and walked into this deal figuring it'd be a "pig in a poke" situation - meaning you pays your money and then you pray. M)

Well the big thing is that the Blitz throttle controller provides only 4 modes.

Eco, SP1, SP2, SP3

That being said, the Blitz throttle controller also costs $420 with no reverse shut off.


I'm NOT saying that the TWP product is in any way inferior, I would really just like to get those questions answered especially since twpanson had previously posted that questions can be posted in the thread. (I have sent both a PM and posted in this thread)

I would def. like to buy the TWP throttle controller (I think Blitz is simply gouging the price since it carries the Blitz name). But with my money being spent on a 20K tuition and about $800 on books, maintenance on my car, gas, beer, etc. I would like to be 100% sure about the whole ordering and installing before I am committed.

If the answers to my questions are answered, I am def. going to sign up for this group buy.

I have one, install required no wiring, (I didn't bother with the reverse lockout) still playing with it; haven't really gotten hard data on it yet, will be posting up some details soonish.

On the other hand, one of the big questions is whether or not I can change modes while driving. Or do I have to stop to change modes.

 

Because I'm feeling generous, and I've learned a lot from SL over the years, I'll contribute what I know firsthand.

Normal is the same as not having the controller installed at all.

2) If I remove the throttle controller, does the car return to the factory settings?
Yes, it has no interface into your car's CPU, it just inputs directly between the Throttle pedal and the CPU, telling the CPU the throttle is being pressed more (Or less) than it really is.

3) If I am currently driving, can I change modes while driving? (for example cruising at 60 and then swapping to sports)
Yes, I constantly fiddle with mine while driving. (the ECO modes don't do to well in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic)


4) Has there been any reported problems with throttle controllers? (ie. check engine lights, etc)
I have had no check engine lights, I cannot provide any testimony as to other user's experience.


5) Is there a difference between the throttle controllers for say Honda and toyota (besides the harness)?
TWP will have to answer this, but the way it's packaged, NO. (you get two boxes, one with the ETC, one with the harness)

6) How does it actually work? I thought the ecu controls the throttle?

I'm not ready to speak to my experience with this device yet, I've only had it in my car for a little over a week, and only really driven it in rush hour, once I have some free time to actually play with it (And Pocket dyno ;) ) I'll post up my thoughts on the device and it's performance.

Sorry, I've changed my mind. I'm removing my name from the list. I briefly discussed this with another member via PM and I've concluded that the Blitz unit - indefensibly priced though it surely is - has at least the advantage of coming with a working phone number.

Here are the answers and let me know if you have more Q's

1. There are Eco1-5, Normal(OEM), and Sports1-7 available options for you to choose according to different type of condition on your driving.

2. Yes, Plug-n-Play and vice versa, If you ever need to go back to dealership for warranty issue, just remove the T/C then you are back to bone stock!

3. Yes, you can change the mode while driving. That's also one of the reason this device being designed to do (in order to cope w/ different driving condition).
Though it would be a bit scary if you switch suddenly from Normal to Sports7

4. Ever since we upgraded to 2nd version (aka ETC), we haven't got any CEL problem.
Btw, the GB one is the 3rd version w/ "Flat" display module. And we also provide 1 year free replacement warranty.

5. Yes, the main unit is universal, the only difference is the harness. That means you can buy additional harness to switch the T/C kit to different car.

6. We will send out official invoices through PayPal to all the participants for the transaction.

My understanding is that there'll have to be at least 9 people to get a discount. As for payment, see post #34 above:

Unlike other vendors offering different products on the forum, we are soley selling this Adjustable Throttle Controller technology. Therefore, the profit isn't high enough to cover the $200/ month vendor fees.
So 9 ppl is necessary for us to register vendor status and to offer the $129 shipped GB price.
