So that scangauge really works? How hard is it to 'install'? Or better yet, how is it installed? I realize it hooks up to the ecu, but where is the port for it? It sounds like an interesting piece, I just have lots of questions about it!

It is CAKE. You simply plug it into the OBDII port under the dash and you are done.

I did an led swap on one and am now actually thinking of getting one. You can not only monitor the main parameters and read codes, but you can also monitor fuel consumption and trip data. Not sure how accurate its MPG calculator is, but I would guess as accurate as most OEM ones.

Oh the days of slipping a jumper into the ECU port to read the codes via the flashing CEL indicator

lol I hear ya. Maybe i'll have to think about getting one. It looks like it can fit in the little cubby under the HVAC. That may be a good place for me to put it.

If only I had the money. I'm saving right now for a short shifter. Although if the CEL comes back, it may be my only choice.

Is it okay to disable the cel with the scangauge if it comes on? I mean, if its on, it usually means that there is a problem. Can turning it off lead to the car NOT alerting me to a problem in the future?

Nope, if the conditions continue, the code will return. Various codes are set different ways. Some have to occur over longer periods before a "hard code" is set.

If you are saving for a short shifter, check out http://doctorisotope.com/index.php?o...d=18&Itemid=29

Good products by someone that knows his stuff. And good prices, meaning more money toward your scangauge

Alright, so the scangauge would simply turn it off temporarily and it would come back. Plus, i'm sure its not the best thing in the world to disable a CEL rather than fixing the problem. It looks like i'm gonna have to throw back in the stock intake if it comes on again because it really seems like my only option.

Thanks for the link to the short shifter btw!

You can also turn off the CEL by simply disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes. When you get a code, and cant find an issue, sometimes this is the way to see if it was a one time fluke. If the code returns, then you know you have a reall issue. But in any case, figure out the code and then go from there.

You welcome on the shifter info. I run his short shifter and love it. Made from a stock shifter, so it is nice and sturdy. His cage risers, bushings, etc fit perfectly as well.

Awesome, good to know. I already disconnected the battery to turn off the CEL, so I am waiting to see if it is going to come back on now. If it does, I guess I can find somewhere to read the code, otherwise throw back on the stock intake. I figure that even if I do read the code and find out what it is, the only remedy even still will be to put back on the stocker.

Dude, this thread just described my situation so perfectly... Turns out after the reading, it is the air intake that was causing my problem....Thanks for all the clerification.....

you had an ebay intake and swapped it out for stock and the problem went away? Any idea what was causing it?

I am guessing he had an 07 and ended up with an 05-06 intake, which will not work properly.

lol, I definitely will if it comes back, you can believe that! Although my pessimism leads me to reiterate that I know it's gonna be the intake and i'll have to take it off. I'm really bummed about that. Its not about the money, it was minimal (obviously), its just that I LIKE it! :D

So the CEL came back on. I brought it to my local mechanic to get the code read. He read the code and told me it was the intake. He said it would cost me $10 however just to tell me what the code was, but for free, he read the code and told me that it was the intake. (i saw him read it, he's just an idiot for asking for $10 now to tell me what it was). Anyway, should I pay the $10 to find out what it was in hopes of fixing it? Or knowing that its the intake, should I just throw back in the stocker?

Alright, i'll call autozone to see if they will do it and head down to there after work. Its a good 30 minute ride for me each way (the closest one). Hopefully i'll post whatever code it is a bit later today.

Okay, I went to autozone, spend 2 hours in the car to get the code, but I got it, here it is:

P0456

I'm not getting many hits here at all, so I started a new thread in desperate hope of getting this fixed. I don't want to throw back in my stock air box as I really love this sri, but driving in 'safe' mode is KILLING me!

Just get the Scangauge and clear the CEL everytime it comes on J/k but if you want one I can save you a few bucks!
