So I ended up installing the stock intake again, and long and behold - a week later, the CEL is back. I took it to the dealer

They are replacing my charcoal filter under warranty.

Could this malfunction in the charcoal filter have anything to do with the intake? It sounds like I can put it back on with no problems if it didn't cause the malfunction with the charcoal filter....what do you all think?

EDIT!! The charcoal CANISTER, not the charcoal filter (the filter is the little piece in the airbox :D)

I was going to reply earlier about that, I was going to commit that if they changed the charcoal filter I don't see how it would have did anything when you had on a aftermarket intake. You will not have a problem if you put your intake back on. Just make sure you disconnect the battery for 10 min and then reconnect to clear the ecu and let idle for 10 min so the ecu can learn a little bit better afr for you car.

ummm, the stock intake is on the car and I disconnected the battery during the reinstall of the intake. The cel is back b/c there is an issue with the evap. That is why they are replacing the charcoal canister

you misunderstood what I wrote. You ask would you have problems installing you intake it looked like from your post it was the aftermarket intake you were referring to after they fixed your car.

Yea, everything is cool. I just want to know why my charcoal canister failed and if it had anything to do with my intake....I want to throw my intake back on if it was purely coincidence

Not sure, I haven't heard of too many people that had to replace that. Did you ever get bad gas? What mods do you have?

No, I neverr got bad gas or anything like that and I NEVER top off. 'Click' and i'm done. Never had any problems there. It IS fairly coincidental though that I got the CEL a week or 2 after installing my intake. Nevertheless, they put on the canister today, we'll see if the cel comes back.

My mods are all in my profile - those are up-to-date

So the CEL is back, the charcoal canister didn't fix the problem and now they are going to smoke the system. I will keep you all updated so that if anyone else has this problem, the solution can be known!

So I finally got the car back after having a loaner for about 2 days. Now i'm not saying that the cel won't come back, we will have to wait and see, but they gave me 2 new parts under warranty:

1) Yet another new charcoal canister
2) A new fuel filler neck

Now I don't know exactly what the fuel filler neck is, but apparently the part is on backorder for about 3 months. So what they did, is took a tC off the lot, put it on the lift, and removed that fuel filler neck for me. Hopefully this will fix it and hopefully this won't be a problem that anyone else comes across.

Hate to dig up an old thread...but did this work?

I just got a P0456 CEL on my tC. Checked my gas cap..seemed like it was loose even though I ALWAYS click it a few times. I never overfill gas either.

I did notice that the gas filler neck was wide open. Isn't there normally a little lid like thing on it that closes?

If the evap is mounted sideways can it throw a cel from being mounted sideways?

still got it? Check your fuel cap, loosen it and tighten it. Reset the code. I actually had to replace mine the seal was leaking.
