Has anyone tried this

Read up on it and it kinda looked appealing.
Any thoughts on it?

Looks really pricey... and I'd be hard pressed to think that the newer filters perform as poorly as this products info suggests...
I don't know if the HP increase could even be accounted for with something similiar to this...
You'd figure you'd hear a ton about a product "As Good" as this in the tuning community... and I've never heard a thing...

i havent heared of this one but i have heared of some reusable oil filters and they are supposed to be great with low viscosity oils
they filter realy small particles so any high viscosity oil will have trouble flowing through so i would imagine they wouldnt be the best for winter driving since you would want a higher viscosity oil to keep its temp more constant

For $100, they better show me dynos.
Secondly, I'd sometimes rather pay $20 and have a seat while someone else changes my oil. What is your time worth? After buying a new filter and the new oil, changing your own only saves you a few bucks. By purchasing this, you run the risk of any old mechanic throwing it away.

Speaking of "oil dynos" have you ever noticed - and I've watched a bunch of these - that the first oil they dyno is old and dirty?
Then, they put in the new oil and voila - more HP!
No $hit. Dirty oil causes friction/heat/poor sealing. It should get better numbers with new oil!!!

seen that on horse power tv they dynoed a ls1 camero that looked like it had the same oil they bought it with like 50k miles ago and then with royal purple and clamed something like a 10hp gain
^^^ yep - watched that yesterday (web) and while I DO believe that synth will give you a few ponies - they are not being fair in those comparisons.
It's the details - they can say that they didn't say they compared old oil to new - but they didn't tell you either! Watch carefully. Shoddy, IMO, and I lose all faith when I see that crap.

The only way this would possibly make more HP is if the stock setup was so restrictive as to keep the proper amount of oil from flowing - which is ridiculous.
Snake oil, no pun intended.
