Default help! possible troubles w/ new pulley

So I installed my agency power pulley a few weeks ago. At first I was extremely happy with the gains but there seems like there might be some trouble with it. It could be nothing but I thought Id post up some pics to get some opinions.

I was totally not worried about it at first, because the install was done by a friend of my family's who is a mechanic. I also have heard that nobody has had any problems with these things yet so my mind was at ease, until I saw this:

as you can see, there is some sort of damage being done to the belt attached to the pulley and the alternator, etc, somewhere along the line. Also there is this weird feather-looking stuff floating around in my engine bay which must have been stripped off of the belt. I want to guess that it is rubbing against something somewhere, but I couldn't figure out where in the limited time I had to look at it.

here is another pic. sorry my camera phone is not that great

has anyone seen this before? think its a problem?
I'm worried about my baby!

thanks in advance for any help

edit: oh yea, i only put on about 500 miles since the install. the car has only about 14k in total

Your belt should definatly not look like that. Something is obviously obsrtucting its path

soooo looking at the belt again after driving the car, only a part of the belt is messed up. most of it looks perfectly fine. Im going to venture a guess that if it was rubbing, the entire belt would have to be messed up so something else must have caused the damage. Im a little less worried about it now but its still weird. my only theory is that it got screwed up during the installation somehow.

well, a mechanic did the install for me, and I actually held the belt tensioner for him while he swapped the pulleys. I just let the tensioner bolt go - in order to get it to loosen, you have to hold it pretty hard, and it just tightens when you let it go, and it felt like it went back to normal and the belt itself felt pretty taught... I also looked around the engine bay as best I could to find anything that was out of place w/ no luck
