Default How to get fingerprints out of header

I was retarted and didnt clean my fingerprints off my MMW Header b4 running the car. now i have quite a few ugly marks on the top of the hearder. looks very bad at shows.

I have been told that i can get them out with a stainless polish. Can anyone suggest a specific polish to use. and is there any other way then good old elbow grease to get them out. ie: is there something i could put on my cordless drill that i can use to polish it out more efficently.

thanks

You can get stainless polish at appliance stores. It is used for Stainless Steel refrigerators. I have seen some ball like polishers at car parts stores lately that look like they are made for drills. Good luck..........

the ball thing that your thinking of is the mothers polishing ball. its made for polishing wheels but i don't see why you wouldn't be able to try and use it for the header.

its worth a shot to try and polish them off with it. if it doesn't work you still have a ball for your wheels.

good luck.

I have an alphawerks header and the only way to get those prints out is to use 2500 grit sandpaper and wet sand the header. I tried diffrent polish and cleaners none will work. Use sandpaper.

I read that fast and it sounded like "the ball that your thinking of is your mothers polishing ball. its made for polishing wheels."

after i overthought what the hell you were talking about I reread it - and its the "mothers" polishing ball. ....not your mothers polishing ball.

toyota_scion....did you have the same issue and you used sandpaper...if so was it just regular sand paper, and did u just soak the paper of apply water while sanding. How long did it take to get the prints out..and how does the header look now(and scrach marks from the sandpaper) ...if you have and pics that would be great...and thanx in advance for the help.

Alex...i really like to polished stainless ...sop thatr why i am waiting for last case sernario to get it coated...thanx though

Use 2500 grit wet/dry sandpaper and use water to wet sand the header to remove the marks. It will take a little time to do this.
