u can get a used tranny for about 400-900 bucks...labor about 400 or less... as its the same as taking out a clutch more or less...dont buy a new tranny from the dealer unless your really lazy!!


just get the normal e35 tranny which can be bought on alot of places..

if you were local i would help ya out fixing 5th gear but it sounds like a bad syncro at first glance.

Dr. Iso.. none of the gears are cut into the spine.. they can all be separated.

That's what I'm thinking. I mean, the warranty is going to run out in 5k miles anyway, so why the hell not? I can just take it to a transmission shop in town (cheaper) and have them fix it, or rally some road racing guys together (cheapest) and pay them in beer and food to help me put a new trans in. I neither want to pay, nor can I afford, to spend $3500 on this issue right now.

I'm still shocked that the transmission only lasted 65,000 miles, too.

its not a paper weight ROSE... his tranny is probably very fixable... but its gonna cost atleast 300 bucks between parts and pressing in the gears or doing it the heat and cool method... its not impossible but it is a PITA... IPP was smart and just bought a new tranny and we put it in... and so far so good !! lol..

but i wouldnt be able to see if the tranny is fixable or not until i cracked the bell housing open and looked inside..

he could either have a fixable tranny worthy of selling for repair or like u said.. a giant paper weight worthy of taking it to the recycling yard and maybe getting money out of it...

im trying to go green lol..

Well, yeah, I'm just going by what my dog said.

I take back all the nasty things I've said about dealerships, or thought about Jay Wolfe in St. Louis. They talked to the warranty guys (who wanted to give me a used one), and are installing a brand new(!) transmission at no cost to me.
