How much "power" really?

I hope this helps you understand the difference between whp and hp to the crank or flywheel. Now, with Paul's setup, if he was to pull the engine and do an engine dyno, i guess he would be around the 200hp to the crank...but not to the wheels. The majority of horsepower discussions will stem from WHP as this is all us people can afford and have the time for.
-whp vs. crank
-differences between dynos
-Whp of stock tC = 130
-I/H/E done with an EMANAGE AND TUNE
yep, sounds like an echo to me!
IHE will gain you 20 whp tops.. and that is on the verge of wishful thinking. Most see 10 or so tops. There are more threads on here than I can count about this actually, so you can look those up.
You wont dream of 200whp NA on our car using tuning and IHE mods.
So no, you wont see much gain at all with IHE. And I have yet to see anyone realize any real improvements in track times with those mods.
If you want to spend $1000 or so and get a definite, noticeable performance gain, get yourself some springs, sway(s) and good tires. Huge improvement with not a lot of cash spent.
And that thread had some pretty weird info in it. Unless I was just missing something in the posts.. but I dont think so. For example:
A CEL caused by using an aftermarket header will NOT make the car run any different than stock. That code is simply stating that the second O2 is not reading what the ECU expects in relation to the 1st O2 (Due to removing a CAT). That has zero to do with fuel mix at all. The 1st O2 is what is giving the ECU AFR readings. The second one (And the cause of the code in this case) does nothing but tell the ECU if the CAT is working.
So outside of that, none of those mods would remotely cause the car to run super rich and produce 110hp. So that part alone doesnt make any sense.
And simply running a high flow setup with a header on this car is not going to make the car from running AFR's way out of whack. This is not a carburated setup that is jetted to run in a range. It is a fuel injected car that can vary its fuel mix over a fairly wide range.

and scionunderground, you keep jumping back and forth on your words. Your posts dont make a lot of sense, and you first started trying to say that a stock tC is 160hp, but some dynos on read 130ish.. in other words, until corrected you didnt know the difference between whp and bhp. So stop trying to argue.

I was the first one to mention the difference between crank and wheel hp. If you google Scion tC, it'll say 160. If I was then to tell the OP that I/H/E and a tune, he could make an additional 50hp, what would he think when added those numbers up?
Just because I don't want anymore confusion, it's over 200.
Of course DYNO charts are relative and certain dyno's read higher than others.
As for the comment about not knowing the difference between bhp and whp, you're a fool. I own a turbo tC and a 400 hp all motor IROC-Z Camaro. I spend plenty of time working in my car and going getting cars tuned.
Now how much longer do you want to keep arguing over proven numbers, whether it be at the crank or at the wheels, there was still around 50hp gained.
yea easier said then done buddy..turbo cost around 4 grand for a decent one and thats not including tuning and maintenances. Im pretty sure if we all had that kind of money to throw down we would NOT be driving a scion
Well, building an NA setup is a much worse value for your dollar. That thread posted in here (And there is a lot of doubt in some of that, as some of the descriptions make no sense) shows 179 whp. IF that is true.. given a car that dynos in the mid 140's to start with.. that is a whopping 30ish HP gain (not the 50 that some like to believe... 30 != 50. And since no baseline was shown on that same dyno.. there is zero way to tell what the gain really was. You arent going to tune 30-40hp NA on this car without a lot of supporting mods. So you spend more money HP for HP trying to go NA. That has been shown and shown and shown. And from what I saw in that other thread.. he lost his dyno sheet ???? so we dont even have that to go by
If you want to get a bang for your buck power wise and spend LESS money to reach over 200whp, turbo is the way to go.. proven a million times on this car. People just like to beleive you can throw on some cheap mods and have a race car... just isnt reality though.
Now dont get me wrong, a good NA build would be great and fun to do (bang for buck or not). And if you want to raise compression, pnp the head, the whole 9 yards, you may see 200whp some day. But that is about the only way, especially with the parts available for this car today.

I know Paul personally, and I remember very well of his tuning experiences. Why would I need to lie about something like this? I'm not even for N/A setups.
Dyno's vary GREATLY. a simply google search shows a stock tC ranging from low 130's to mid 150's.
I know some people simply HAVE to be right ALL the time, and whenever the read something that they don't agree with, they must go on a crusade to prove themselves, but geez...
Wow... you certainly sound like someone else many of us remember. Same attitude.. didnt last long either. Cant post your own argument, so lets insult and call names.
Typical. I posted very valid arguments, based of more than ONE thread (that didnt really even support your claim if you look a it again). Yet the best you can do is come back with "need to inflate your ego"... "google search" .. yadda yadda.

All of the comments I have made in regards to hp gains, the difference between dyno's, and the difference between bhp and whp are all valid and true.
With that, I'm done. It's sad that on SL, a simple discussion can't turn into ego inflation and nasty back and forth bickering.

Congrats BTW on the K1 Speed win. You only won because I wasn't there.
