First hint that it is a hack is that the Typhoon intake by K&N is an actual metal tube cold air intake, not a cut up stock airbox
ture, K&N has some botched numbers

Well.. I have seen a million of your posts... so I was really thinking that you were joking, but you worded it well there, had me worried that you slipped over the edge on us

But if you slap some of those spinning yard ornament sunflowers on the bumper in front of the grill, it will own all... and oh, how it would look....

When kids, we went all around the neighborhood collecting yard ornaments and placed them in one front yard. I think we had about 6-7 of those spinning sunflowers, 4 bird baths and a group of random plastic yard animals (squirrels, rabbits, a dear, etc) all in one yard by the end of it. Pretty funny to see for a bunch of 6th graders on the way to school the next morning :D

But, I guess we should veer back on topic so we dont kill his thread, so I digress............

I did that too, but when I went in reverse, I lost control and had to take it off

If you don't feel like reading what happened to me, I just want to say good luck, and I understand your situation, but anyways.. here's my tale:

I was a delivery driver and had no other form of transportation, and of course, I had to make bills. Someone ended up hitting me in the parking lot one night on the front left fender area, just in front of the wheel.. no note, nothing. Hit and runs are cool!

Anyway, 3 days later, the wheel lining / fender fell out, exposing my AEM CAI (by the way, I noticed better throttle response when I put it on, so I feel like it was worth it, plus the sound is amazing). Well, I get a delivery out to Bum$#%! Egypt, a sloshy dirt road, and a medium snow lay ahead. My cell phone didn't have service out in the country there, and I live near the mountains.. so anyway, I couldn't call the customer, and they were at the end of this 3 mile dirt road. My car was already bogging down up around 4 - 5k RPMs (like you described).. but I had no money to replace the lining, no time to bring it into the shop (this was the 2nd day after the lining fell out, and I couldn't put it back in, the brackets fell out), so of course I get about 10 feet down this road (going 10 mph), and the thing locks up, turns off. This was with little to no gas pedal activity.. but my tires were probably still throwing mud on the filter.

I tried once to start it back up and I knew immediately, once i just heard the single *click*.

At 38k miles on the tC.. I got a used engine with 14k miles on it, and kept the intake, and a shoddy @$$ job on the wheel liner by Pedersen Toyota of Fort Collins (never going back there except maybe to buy Oil from them..). However, Ehrlich Toyota in Greeley I've had nothing but good encounter with.

Anyways.. I had to get a new engine.. at 62k miles (38k on the motor), still running strong :p My insurance covered mine, since I filed a police report for the hit and run, and since it was the root cause of the hydrolock... but to be honest I think I got lucky on that.

engifineer is a smart guy, so good luck with the procedures he told you, otherwise, I feel for ya if ya have to get a new motor
