I am looking for some ways to gain more power, and I noticed that headers are a pretty good option. Can everyone please let me know what are some good headers for under 800...they can be new or used...just give me some brands or specific sites please!

 

dude, i got the DC race headers and their great. i felt a pretty big difference when i floor it now but i would recomment to go with those. cost me around 320 installed, but i had to buy a new O2 sensor for it cause they had to strip my old one.

 

I'll 2nd the DC racing header. Its the only one I have installed and it does look nice and perform well. Like Fredy just said, be ready to buy a a/f sensor cause 1/3 from the factory are cross threaded. I had to get one too and they aint cheap.

 

alright, I will probably go with the DC,....how much hp gain is there? but one more thing...Monster Motorworks makes one that is 800 and is dyno'd at 26 hp gain...

 

No, the MMW header did not dyno a 26hp gain. That dyno is a comparison between a stock car and a car with their intake, their header/s-pipe combo and an exhaust.

You will not see big gains with a header on this car. It's not a 'vette.

 

any combo like intake, full exhaust including header should see somewhat close gains to what MMW saw on there dyno.

 

If you have the TRD or similar axleback or a catback without a monster resonator inline, then be prepared for your ride to sound like A$$ with the header. A large resonator has proved to help for most people from what I hear, but search around to see what others have done.

I would expect 5 - 10HP at most with just a header on this car realistically.

it did get pretty pricer once i needed that 02 sensor. but with those a/f sensors, say good bye to that CEL.

 

A little off topic, but I think that money would be better spent on new springs, shocks, sway bars and maybe strut bar. Your tC will never be fast for $800, but it could handle very nicely instead.

 

i am not trying to make it fast for under $800. If i want it to be fast I will spend 4 grand on a turbo kit. However, i dont want to spend more than 800 on something that gives me 5 horsepower

 

you can get the mmw header for about 550 if you shop around

 

Nomatter what you get you need atleast 1 - 18inch resonator. I have 1 - 18inch and 1 - 12inch. .....the rasp is finally gone.

 

There is a sticky at the top of this page about some different headers (as well as other parts), with dyno's included. Did you look there?

^ there is no strup on there.

 

Make sure the header is a 4-2-1. I have seen bette gains on them versus the 4-1 headers.

 

^ i dunno about that. I have the strup header but never got a dyno after it. Since our cars are meant to be kept high in the rpms .....the 4-1 does a good job.

 

go with the ALphawerks headers, it's the best! Most HP gains, but let me warn you, depending on your resonators and exhaust system, it's gonna sound horrible. I had the TRD exhaust, zpi s-pipe, alphawerks headers and the rasp was BAD! I switched to the HKS exhaust and the sound was A LOT better. I got the megan mid-pipe and put two 18" resonators on it and it sounds PERFECT now...

yeh so go with Alphawerks, and then eventually change ur s-pipe, mid-pipe, and exhaust...
