quick question. What happens when a cop pulls you over and you have an illegal header that he notices? only ticket?

hey has anybody tried putting like a high-flow cat with the alphawerks header, or any header? something like magnaflow's high-flow cat, will it work?

^ mmw and even the dc the way the collector is designed can be considered a 4-2-1 although its not going to see any of the benifits

The noise might be illegal but I think most states have a limit. I doubt headers in general are illegal.

they are illegal because you are putting more pollution into the air and also the noise. I have heard one person in NJ say a cop gave him a problem but nobody else ever (so i guess it can happen). CA on the other hand ....ive never been there but ive seen tv shows and have heard dozens of people say that they dont play.

i've never heard of such an incident here about headers, but my sister did get pulled over because of her exhaust on her civic ex, which was actually within the legal limits, so she got that off, or whatever, i don't really know the details, but she had the stock exhaust put back on a while later for some reason or another anyway so whatever.

Any tampering with the OEM emissions system is a federal violation. Here, in the house of CARB, a cop on a bad day can cost you:

1. The ticket he/she writes
2. The cost of the tow
3. Impound fees
4. $2500 fine per omitted catalyst
5. Repair costs

So if you get caught, and they decide to put the full pinch on you, your header can cost you an additional $4000 or (more). Can't say how they play the game in other states, but risk vs. reward here in Cali ain't even close.
