Default INJEN CAI in Cali

So I've been dying to get the INJen, but being in Cali it's a hard decision for me, can anybody in cali tell me if theyve had any experience with being pulled over and if the cop even checks? I got a speeding ticket about a month ago and didnt seem like they even had any intention of checking my car for anything. Thx in advance

i've seen those mobile dyno/roller units. scary.

i would not roll with a CAI thats not CARB legal. going to the state ref is not a pleasant experience if your car isnt 100% stock. my friend chose not to goto the state ref and pay the $360 fine for a "modified intake" on his Golf, which was really a turbo kit LOL.

its funny when out-of-state folks give advice regarding cali emissions laws. lol.

Not unless they have the booklet that shows all of the CARB numbers w/ the corresponding intake and year/make/model car.

And with the recent enforcement teams being implemented, do think it may become increasing?

Just some things to think about. I went into work yesterday and did some snooping around.

Just some food for thought.

Last I heard, the INJEN tC intake was still waiting for approval.

K&N is CARB approved, but think about it.

How often do you hang out w/ peeps who drive to draw attention to themselves? Do you hang out w/ street racers?

I've been running INJEN intakes w/o the CRAB badging, and never got hassled. I have the badging now, but when I didn't, I never had a worry.

I have the same mods engine wise in my Matrix as I do in the Scion. The Matrix is louder w/ the CAI, but I have yet to be stopped in the Matrix. I've had it for over 3 1/2 years now.

Why was I stopped in the xB? For tint.

I guess the Matrix just blends in better, but I definitely drive it harder than the xB, thus the 18 inch S-03s.

thanks for your replies squirrel, for the minimal gains that both intake puts out, i think i will be satisfied with the KN just as much as the INJEN and it seems like KN is the safer route, btw do you carry KN? I live is San Jose and maybe I can stop by sometime

Sorry, just INJEN. I try to keep INJEN tC intakes in stock at all times. I have a few left, and have sold over a dozen. No problems from the owners that I know of. I try and follow up every once in a while to see how things are going.

But a new line will be released shortly that I will be carrying.

I can get Weapon*R also.

Unless something has changed recently, the K&N intake is not CARB approved. Even according to their own website it states "For Off Road Use Only" next to the CARB section.

AEM’s intake hasn't even been released, so it’s not CARB as it stands now.

Oops, sorry, I thought it was. Isn't there a tC intake that is approved right now? I thought there was. I guess I'm getting too old.

lol

No, there are no CARB approved intakes. Some reports suggest that due to the carbon filter that's in the stock airbox, there will never be a CARB approved intake, since they all remove the stock airbox and consequently the carbon filter. The carbon filter is considered to be a part of the emissions equipment so its removal negates CARB legality.
