Yeah, that's what delayed the release of the INJEN intake. AEM made a complaint to the CARB about INJEN's pending release and the charcoal fiilter, and thus the delay to the market. INJEN had the intakes ready to release right after SEMA, but AEM made their complaint and the rest is history.

lol

No, there are no CARB approved intakes. Some reports suggest that due to the carbon filter that's in the stock airbox, there will never be a CARB approved intake, since they all remove the stock airbox and consequently the carbon filter. The carbon filter is considered to be a part of the emissions equipment so its removal negates CARB legality.

why is the injen more expensive than the K&N? i see the K&N around for under $200, while the Injen is typically in the $230 range.

Prolly depends on the manufacturer and what they think the market will sustain.

Just like the Bridgstone S-03 tires on my Matrix, 225/40-18s are over $200 EACH! Compared to say Parada Specs 2s that will be $50-75 cheaper.

bigger piping = more airflow
more airflow = better performance

Thats not what she said...

And your telling me same size piping as stock is good? A bit more air would mean a bit more performance.

I'm from SoCal and I installed my Injen CAI and I love it!
Had a question for other Injen CAI owners... did anyone get a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT after a few hundred miles on it?

The only reasons I can think of that you would get a CEL would be if you didnt reset the ecu when installing it (by unplugging the negative battery terminal) or if you either didnt install the MAF correctly or damaged it during the install.

In regards to pricing difference:

Having owned both, I'd buy the Injen if it was $100 more than the K&N. There are many a factors for this that I have posted before. From crap mounting points, to crap parts, to crap everything. I'll never buy a K&N product ever again.

and let it be known to those who are waiting for a carb legal cai!!!

THEIR WILL NEVER BE ONE, because the factory air box has a carbon filter, and all the intakes produced do not have one, simply because adding this little papery substance reduces hp that would be produced by a CAI.

just dont drive like an @$$, keep your car looking moderatley stock, and be nice.... and you wont have problems
