Default Injen and general CAI questions w/ axle-back

First off, I've been searching through here and reading posts to get to the point I'm at now.

I have an 07 tC and have a few questions. I'd like a bit more power from my car, but it's just an everyday driver, no racing or anything like that at all. s/c is a definitely out. I also don't want it to sound like some Civic all ricey. I'd like a deeper/throaty sound and nothing too loud. I'd prefer it to be more on the subtle side. So I read a lot of posts and here's what I was thinking.

I'm 99% sure I'm going with the TRD exhaust. After reading here, I decided on that because of the sound and I read that you won't get much performance gain at all from any axle-back exhaust. I also like it b/c it doesn't look like some coffee can type muffler.

Next, I was planning on a CAI and read here that the TRD does basically nothing and that the Injen actually provides some additional power. Is this correct?

I don't want to blow all that money on the TRD intake for looks only. So I was looking at the Injen here...
http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1311
I live in PA so CA emissions regs aren't a problem.

I have a few questions...
-The description notes it can be setup as a short RAM or full CAI. What is the difference? Which would be best for an everyday driver?

- Will either affect exhaust tone much?

-If it turns out that the TRD and Injen offer about the same performance, what are the differences in exhaust tone between the 2 with the TRD axle-back?

Thanks a lot. I'm new at this so any kind of help is appreciated.

I have axle back exhaust with an injen intake and the intake makes everything sound better..until i put a header on and a buzzing noise came along. but anyway, the short ram is when the filter is up in your engine bay near where your battery is, and you can actually see it. cold air drops down almost into your wheel well. i stuck with the short ram because 1) easier install 2) it looks cooler 3) there is not going to be any difference in power between the two. CHanging between the two will make no sound change in the exhaust. also, i saw a page with dynos of all the intakes and injen proves the most gains...for probably less than trd... id go with injen!

consider going with greddy sp2 axle back. it has more hp gains than the trd and sound is beautiful. trd 1-2whp and greddy sp2 is about 6-7 whp i forget. looks wise it is the same but with a bigger tip. check out the sound clip in the sticky.

Where would I be able to buy a greddy sp2? Does it require any modification to fit?

Thanks

EDIT:
Another question. If I were to go w/ the TRD exhaust, would that combined w/ either of the intakes produce any power gain that I could actually feel. Or is the intake just a waste of money for me?

intake is fine, but trd is too expensive and no gains. actually axle back in general not really any gains but like i said the sp2 is better than trd IMO.

Wow, the TRD exhaust for $100...can't beat that. So you're basically saying that w/ that exhaust and the Injen, there's really no noticeable performance increase?
Thanks

go wit dc exleback .. i got it and i can barely hear it in the cabin .. and i converted my injen cai to short ram cause it rains alot in my area .. and i dont see the big diff between the short ram n cai setup .. shortram is louder dou .. the dc axleback isnt canister style .. it utilizes the stock b pipe .. so it looks very nice

as for exhausts, dont go with to big of a pipe size unless your modding heavy if not at lower rpm you will feel a big loss in torque. you could go 2.25 piping but that will remove all those extra factory bends not needed.

^^ I just said!...the DC Sport Axle-back is the best!..If you Dislike the single Canister type of muffler....I like the side muffler type..Thats why I chose the DC Sports..

Will an axle-back like the TRD have a negative effect like you mentioned above?

I have a Injen cai, i was at the same point, i heard a clip with tanabe (fan of canister) concept-g exhaust, liked the sound. It was either that or HKS, I belive there is no diff between axle back and cat back considering there is what one more section of pipe between the two Anyways i like the sound not real deep but DOES NOT sound civicish <--new word

the difference between catback and axel back is the more piping......freeing up your whole exhaust system not just the muffler.....the trd axelback or any other axelback will have no negative effect on your car...or really any positive effect just a better sound...unless you were to buy your midpipe and s pipe to go with it, then you might see a small performance increase. An intake will give you slight gains...more so with your exhaust on.

if you have an injen cai i would highly recomend the greddy sp2. a tad expensive but deffinatly worth it. i have that set up and it sound perfect. no rasp at all with a deep rumble when i hit the gas. but if im just crusing it sounds like the factory exhaust.
