Default INJEN HYDRO-BOOT

Any know about how necessary the "Hydro-Boot" is for the Injen CAI?
I know the TRD unit has a valve to prevent any H2O mishaps, but does this location allow decent volumes of water to get into the space? Will I suffer without the BOOT?

i believe you can get Aem bypass valve from sparks and put on the intake, alot of ppl have done that already.

How often do you drive through really deep puddles?

I'd say if you've got the boot, you might as well use it. Why take any unnecessary chances?

Wouldn't installation of the bypass valve require cutting the CAI?

Some people have add the bypass valve without cutting the pipe but I would suggest doing it. Makes it fit much better. It's really up to you if you want either one. It's cheap insurance for your engine either way.

I would reccomend some kind of insurance.. I have the injen CAI and hydrolocked my engine 3 days ago... if it weren't for having awesome insurance, I would be shelling out $7000 for a new engine and labor to have it replaced...

no bypass.... I shouldn't have even attempted to drive through the puddle I did.. .the water was just under my door sills, I am on s-techs so it was pretty low. I learned the expensive way not to even attempt driving through a puddle after this.

So are you going to keep the intake and get a bypass valve or did it scare you away totally?
