You cant really compare the two though. One only repels water from the Filter Itsefl, while the other prevents water from entering the Engine. Basically it prevents your filter from becoming wet from splashes, not submersion in water.

I eventually got mine as well. Only $29.99 shipped.

This is not just for CAIs. If you have an xB with a SRI, water CAN get to your filter by dripping between the grille and the driver side headlight. Little drops of water may not worry you, but after many miles of sucking those little droplettes into your engine you may have problems. The Hydroshield just helps me sleep better at night.

I felt no hesitation in the intake BTW.

And for $25 it costs who can't afford the reassurance that you won't be sucking up water in any shape, form or conditions either.

You could still suck water up there. Look at the disclaimer on the link at the top, the shiled is water repellent, not water proof. It will keep your filter clean though.

Well I guess I should be careful driving in 12+ inches of water then. Ha Ha Anyways, on a more realistic topic, the size of the prefilter on the TC intake is X-1033. It comes in blue, black and red.

After seeing my CAI after 8xxx miles, the shield captured most of the dirt. I guess i'll just clean the shield instead of spending another $10 to clean my filter.
