I am new to this site, but can relate. I started with a custom built exhaust, which sounded great and had a quicker response. Then I put on some headers, unknowingly removing the cat. Needless to say, the rasp was terrible. I was embarrassed to drive. My buddy who has been doing exhaust for years, mostly on domestic, gave me some great pointers. Now I roll a full exhaust, from header back, cat exempt, 36" glass pack reso. The 36" glass pack was the key. All the pick up and no rasp. Now if I can pass deq, I'm straight.

I finally got a decent video of my exhaust without too much wind.

It was taken on a regular digital camera but I think the sound came out pretty good.

sounds great, it makes me miss my AP exhaust.
