Default Installed: SS Brass Cable Bushings & CC Short Shifter

I finally did my first mod to the tC the other day!
My friend and I got down to biz under a street lamp in my neighborhood (cause my garage was full) at about 1am and installed a Creative Compacts short shifter and aluminum base bushings as well as some Speed Source brass shifter cable bushings and a set of their thin brass base bushings stacked on top the CC ones for a lil' extra hight on my ol' TRD ****.

I knew what to expect with Speed Source since I've used their products for years on all of my past Toyotas, most recently their brass bushing kit with a TRD shifter in my old Camry. Carl Crawford's craftmenship and quality are beyond excellent and the presentation/packaging excites me like a kid on x-mas everytime I open a box from them.

I love the throw and the feel of the new CC shifter it's function is fantastic but I gotta say I was very underwhelmed with the product quality when I first recieved it ...since I don't have to look at it tho it doesn't matter... the packaging was a usps box and some cheap blister pack with no way to know if it was actually for the tC and the CC **** reaked of ebayness. There was also rust around all the welds on the shifter. The bushings were nice and like I said already it functions perfectly ...especially for $69 bucks shipped.

The hight is great with the TRD **** and the second thin set of Speed Source base bushings stacked on top the CC bushings and no more slop with the brass cable bushings. All in all I'm completly content and I grin big everytime I punch a gear. It all feels as smooth as my old TRD shifter with metal bushings for a lot less money.

I don't understand the shifter cable bushings... what more is it supposed to do? I have the housing bushings installed with my CC shifter, but how much of a change would the cable bushings actually make?

its huge. They make the shifts feel way more solid. They actually replace the rubber bushings at the tranny end of the cables.

That is an extremely common mod for DSM's.

I put the cable bushings in before the shifter and it made a very noticible difference. Makes it feel like a real sports car with a very notchy and firm feel, very little play/sponginess.

Glad you like the bushings

I will honestly say - just threw some in my turbo camry the other day - since it has been sitting for so long - and it really made my shifter lock in...

I reccomend these to anybody with a manual tranny - it is a very cheap mod and gives you the most out of the transmission you already have

You know it ... I've loved em ever since the first set I got, which I believe was the first set Carl ever made for a gen3 5sfe Camry. ...which should have also been the ones transplanted into your beast before Jeff ever sold it. lol.

Do you make em for the AE101 1.4l Corolla? (C52 i think) My sis wants a set too.

Yeah man - we have bushings for the rolla - let me make sure they are good on the AE101, but I don't see why not

The base bushing fits pretty much every toyota - so she can always use those!

I just got em from speed source and they work great. My fifth gear had a lot of play but with the cable bushings installed barely any that's noticable.
