intake
hey guys i have a weapon r secret weapon intake and im thinking about getting either a fugita intake or an injen intake. think it would be worth selling the weapon r and getting a new cold air? i feel that since its so hot here all the time and eveything that im not getting the cold air to my engine like i want. thought a short ram would be good but it just seems like it runs so much better when it gets cold. so i thought i could get most of this power all the time with a cold air and that it would run even better in the cold weather. plus i would like to get a black intake as well. opinions?
You are getting a negligible gain with any of them. They are for looks and sound. SRI is probably the worst (even the stock intake draws from the fender well).
So just get the one you think looks and sounds the best
And in a hot climate, the metal tube intakes are just heat soaking like mad anyway.

yea i hear ya. but still better to suck in colder air in the fender and have it warm up as it passes through then to be sucking pure hot a$$ air from the engine bay. and yes it would def be for looks as well. would much rather black and i would sell the weapon r as a trade off.
You were sucking in air from the fender stock :D
Yes, I am busting your b@!!s.
If you really want to get the coldest air and the least heat soak, you can search for the GFI or G.F.I. you will have to build it, and it isnt a nice, shiny blingy tube (although you can get tubing that looks nice) but it addresses what a CAI should : Cold air, less heat soak, etc.
If not, you can just sell yours and get one of the ones you mentioned.

i am building flexable duct work to both sides of the engine bay from the front side fake vents........i used this in a few older cars and my under hood temp in motion went down drasticly.
i saw up to 40degree temp drops on engine temps in the summer on the freeway........also a cowl hood of some sort to route the hot air out will help.
i am hoping to finish by summers end....money is short so it is taking forever....need to get a couple of clamps and a few aluminum brackets....total cost.....about $35 and that was because the extra hose is about $23

o ok. well i plan on getting a reverse cowl CF hood in the future anyways. and yea i have my driver side fake vent drilled out so air flow is straight through so that will def help out as well.
The GFI is a nickname meaning "Ghetto fabulous intake" that was designed by doctorisotope.
Basically, smoother piping (made from spectre I think.) from the TB to the airbox, a K&N drop in filter in the airbox, and plastic ducting from the airbox, through the fender to the corner vents in the bumper. If you search the threads, there should be one that tells you all the parts you need to make it. You can make them look nice if you want, or make them look similar to the stock intake.
