Intake or Catback first?
So after searching the forums (i'm sure I missed something but be nice about bring it to my attention) I was wondering what should I upgrade first. Should I go with an Intake (i'm thinking CAI) or a Catback exhaust?(i'm thinking TRD on that). I'm eventually going to do the header to but after both of those previously mentioned are complete. I'm looking for opinions here so any advice or tips would be appreciated since this is the first car i've had that is worth doing these types of upgrades to so therefore I am new to this type of stuff.
They dont make a true catback for the tc that is high q name brand. I bought a borla catback but it is the first connection back. DAMN. It sucked but what are you gonna do. I would go with a borla E and a injen CAI but that is just me. by the way wasnt trying to be an ___, good Q and theres my A. The only true catback iv found is at http://www.sciontcperformance.com/
It really doesn’t matter, the intake, exhaust, and header are all apart of a system. A system that works together and compliments each other. You wont see the full performance of any of those bolt-on parts until you've installed all of the parts. Personally, I feel an axle section only exhaust is a waste. Even with a header an intake you still won't be getting the most you can out of your setup. I wouldn’t even bother with a true cat-back, such as Magnaflows. You'll have to cut the piping right after the second cat for a real cat back system. I would personally opt for a header back system, completely bolt on. One that replaces everything from the header on back, including the s-pipe, second cat (w/ a high-flow or deletes it), and so on. Nexus, ZPI, Creative Compacts, and Draxas all have such systems in the works or already out. Along with a well designed header an intake, you'll be getting the most out of your bolt on parts w/o a piggy back. Adding a piggy back ECU, such as a CamCon, would benefit you greatly at that point as well. Very nice gains can be seen across the entire powerband with a nearly stock car (DC header an axle back). It will require tuning on a dyno by someone who knows what they're doing which is an added expense, but in doing so you would really be getting the most out of your setup short of F/I.
