Intakes
The SRI yields less torque than a CAI below 4k RPMs (Injen). The difference is really significant at 3.5k RPM and below if you look at the torque curve in the second chart. I have not seen how the SRI lines up against the stock intake but my assumption would be that you would still slightly lose tourqe on the bottom end. Our stock intake actually does a decent job of sucking in cooler air than an SRI and is somewhat isolated from the engine. The trade off would be increased airflow but a bit hotter air if you were to upgrade to an SRI. The noise however is very noticeable, when I had my Injen converted to SRI you can definitely hear it roar even at 3k, depending on how much load you are putting on the engine. If you are going for noise, definitely go with an SRI. To sum it up, if you want performance, go with Injen, if you want noise, go with Weapon-R. I wouldn't waste the money on an SRI however since they are almost the same price.
As far as hydrolocking, your filter needs to be submerged in order for that to happen. Rain and splashes would not cause you to hydrolock alone.

Just comparing the Injen SRI with the Injen CAI, at ~2500 RPM, the SRI loses about 0.5 ft-lb of torque, according to the numbers, but I have a sneaking suspicion EDIT: I misread the dyno chart, and feel like an idiot
Forgetting that, look at the two graphs. They're almost identical! The SRI looks a bit smoother, but just comparing the overall shape. The have the same dips, the same rises, etc. Lay them on top of each other, and I bet you guys would be debating fractions of a ft-lb here.
Just some food for thought.
EDIT: Excuse me...it loses about 0.5 ft-lb of torque to the CAI, but gains 1 ft-lb of torque over stock. So the SRI does not lose torque, at least at 2500 RPM.

Nychold, its difficult to look at the graphs when they are not overlayed. The Injen was designed to operate optimally as a CAI. It fares better than the SRI in torque, hp, and a healthier air/fuel ratio. Here is a diagram with both charts overlayed. Plus, if you pay the money to get the Injen, it would not make sense not to use it to its full potential.

eric, there isn't a graph that shows both. It would be my guess that you may notice slight dip in power at lower RPMs with an SRI. Your Texas weather may also exacerbate this effect in the summer. However, its not very significant, we are talking a couple of ponies and a couple of lbs/ft. If you want noise, get the Weapon-R.
