Default Is it just me.....

Or are the gears on the tc kinda close together.

So I was getting on the interstate and this punk station wagon didnt want to let me over even though my lane was ending. So i thought id punch it up a bit to get around him. Of course he caught me off guard, started in the wrong gear, and was having trouble getting up to speed due to the mis shift. As i was going to fourth, got a little flustered, pulled a little too much and ended up mashing it into second, somehow the synchronizors spun to speed fast enough that i didnt notice till i let out the clutch.

needless to say i revved to 7k...........

now i know obviously its bad to redline......but it was for a second. as soon as i realized it i mashed the clutch back in....

did i hurt my tc?? =(

How did you get to 7k when the tC has a rev limiter? Never had problem downshifting to 4th so might be just you.

the tc doesnt do 7k only 6500 rpm unless you were going fast in 4th and accidentally shift into 2nd or something then it would jump a little pass 6500 rpm... just have to get use of the gearing thats all...

transmission wise, the gears are geared short.. that's whatever and normal for us..

but as you're talking about the actual shifter itself.. there are cars out there with much shorter throws and shifting.

it might have been 6.5k and i saw it wrong, it scared the hell out of me though. i was going from 3rd to 4th and slipped into 2nd. it probably is just me, it just doesnt have a smooth shift and a tight shifter where i KNOW if im pulling to the lefft or not. But you know ive only been driving a stick for a year and 7 months of that i was in the army without a car so im still fairly new =).....as long as u guys dont thing i did any long term damage ill just be careful next time

You should be fine, everyone messes up every now and then. I doubt you did any thing that would hurt it.

Well I really dont know how far it will go since I have never hit the rev limiter or dropped to 3rd going 85 so it may be possible.

I did that once, except that I heeled and toed into 2nd too soon. Car has never missed a beat since then. I was running Mobil 1 at the time, but I use Motul now just in case it happens again(knock on wood). Every little bit of protection counts.

get some brass bushing for your shifter, and a short throw kit. the shifter will feel much more solid and precise. just my opinion...
