Default Just Realized Something...who care if we can keep with a Si

what about the new chevy cobalt SS
260hp/260ft-lbs for 22,995 base price
0 to 60 in 5.7 and a 14.1 1/4 mile time...all warrantied

new best speed for the money? i think so...well between this and the MS3

MAZDASPEED 3
263hp/280ft-lbs for 23, 310 base price
0 to 60 in 5.6, 14.2 1/4 mile

or Si for 22k lol no comparison

Put a grand into an SI and it will keep up with them or even beat em... A car with i/h/e keeping up with a FI car that's pretty sad.

But out a grand into a Cobalt SS tc and it will demolish an SI.

There is no point in there comments of yeah but add this money to this car and its faster, because the same could always be said for the other car as well.

Not to mention, I/H/E on an SI will only get it close to a Cobalt in a straight line. Put it in the turns and the SI, again loses!!!!

I was just trying to compare the prices between them.
I know if you put a grand into a ss it would beat a si. but for the price, i would rather take a car that is a grand cheaper and just put i/h/e that will keep up with cars that are FI...
My friend has a type-s, basically the same engine as an si keeps up with ss's and srt-4's non stock...

valid comparison...but i was refering to the new cobalt ss turbo not the supercharged ones. No way a Si is gonna get 60 hp and 120ft-lbs for a G lol

Oh i know they can't, but there are other factors that go along... But i know the tubro cobalts are still going to be slow just like the sc ones.

the turboed cobalt ss isnt slow by any means. it can pull a low 14 to high 13 1/4 STOCK

not only that but it has launch control and no lift shifting (leave foot on gas)
there is also an option to get a computerized pillar gauge with an lcd screen that does a lot of cool stuff

its a pretty amazing car for the price

Obviously you need to read up on the Cobalt SS before comenting on what it can do.

If you think the Cobalt SS turbo is slow, then you also think the EVO is slow, the STI is slow, the G37S is slow and so on and so on.

And the Cobalt SS came pretty close to matching the EVOX on the racd track.

Granted I would never ever ever buy a Cobalt SS, you cant deny what it can do. And to call it slow, is to call every other car on the street slow as well!!

^ i second that chevy is a crap company to begin with i would never even wanna try and beat on that car witout it dying on me wont last 90 to 100k ever.

and as far as the mazda goes they suck also another crap brand that wont last long in th elong run buying one of their cars not to mention there resale value

id go wit an Si anyday compared to these 2 brands more reliable and u add parts 2 it its taking both those cars

I would definitely buy a MS3 or SS over a SI any day. Yes the Si with minor mods could keep up NA but then you are still dealing with a torqueless wonder. Go drive an Si and then go drive the Mazda 2.3 turbo built for midrange. When I test drove a new Si I actually started laughing to myself because while it is lots of fun while floored, you have to put the gas like 2/3 the way down to go anywhere.

Well I found this. It doesn't say anything about transmission maxed however we all know true launching isn't exactly gentile.
