Default K&N drop in filter review

I got my K&N today and I was mildly excited (just the fact that it arrived). I proceeded to install the filter by first disconnecting the battery terminal, and dropping in the new K&N. I noticed that the intake inlet is somewhat smaller compared to the stock filter. I put everything back, made sure everything is tightened, started the car up and let it idle for about 3 minutes. I took it out, drove it normal for about 10 minutes, and then I let it rip. I felt an improvement in torque response in the lowe RPM's, and it makes slightly a deeper growl than it had before. Awesome.

I know that the K&N drop in filter actually loses some horsepower (1 HP which is pretty much negligeable), but gained some torque, which for me is what I was looking for. Once you gun the gas, you def. feel the punch. It isn't much to say for a drop in filter, but once you've been driving stock for 2 months, you could feel even the slightest adjustments :D

All in all, I'd recommend the K&N drop in filter.

I was considering doing this. I don't want an intake because of I'm sick of driving loud cars, but I'd like a tad more kick to the tC. I was considering the Blitz Induction Cover...but I don't think they'll ever come out with it for the tC., so it became a non-option. I'll probably just end up doing what did.

It's difficult to believe you actually felt a difference, that it wasn't just psychological, but at least you're pleased with the purchase, which is what's important, imo.

x2^ i did buy one of these as well, more so for the longevity of the filter, not because i thought i'd see any "gains".

Besides, $38 shipped for a one time purchase vs. $15 every few months at Autozone.

I like my TRD Filter because it's reuseable!
